I bought two of these speakers for poolside use at my family's holiday rental. Both charging ports disappeared inside the device when my adult nephew tried to recharge them. I chalked it up to user error and chose to order two more because I was happy with the stereo image and sound quality. I just went to recharge one (that arrived yesterday), oriented the plug properly, and the port disappeared inside the device when I inserted it. I'm out 3 barely used speakers and I'm treating the 4th with kid gloves and bracing for the worst. Until now I had been a huge supporter and promoter of Monoprice's products. I have sold at least 30 products from their Harmony line to family and friends based on my enthusiasm. No more. Fun's over.1/2 Star. Shameful. You lost a very loyal fan.

I got this item to replace a portable speaker that I had purchased in 2017 - an APIE speaker. Dark green and orange. It's no longer available, but that thing was a monster. What I received from Monoprice didn't hold a candle to that old piece of technology. Despite being nearly twice the size, the audio sounded like a '90s boom box.Having a genuinely bad product experience is rare. I purchased this unreviewed product because I have shopped with Monoprice through their main website in the past. My experiences were overwhelmingly positive. I expected this too be good, too. The plastic carriage that holds the speaker was damaged. Irksome, but not a deal-breaker as long as the product still works. The sound quality was so poor that I wasn't sure if I had received a damaged product or if they had made a genuinely bad speaker. The speaker stopped charging at 60%. When it got down to 20% it kept on beeping. Basically, despite having 1/5 (theoretically) charge remaining, the speaker is unusable because it beeps every thirty or so seconds.... like, what? Why?As for things I liked, the unit felt solid. It has a rugged appearance, but not in a pretentious way. The rubber handle was such a neat idea and every well executed. The chrome stumps where the rubber handle mounts accent nicely with the Monoprice logo on the front. It is larger than what I was used to, but 100% portable. It would still fit easily in a carry-on, and wouldn't be obstructive walking down to the beach. On paper the stats are excellent. What I got wasn't what I had read about.I had genuinely high hopes. Really. This company is a value king and a small business. I built my own standing desk with one of their products. Again, I am all in with this company, and when I saw the product I purchased without hesitation because I hold their products in high regard. Very disappointed. Perhaps I just got a bad individual unit, but I don't think I would try this again.
