Classic you get what you pay for
The kit included all the primary items (Insert HSS Drill, Tap, Counterbore,Installation Driver, 10pcs Carbon Steel Insert).Tap is super high quality tool steel and has a nice threaded starter area to make sure its lined up with the original threaded hole. This is a first time I use this product with satisfactory result. I was able to restore the stripped thread in the hard to reach place. Steel threads are better than aluminum threads. It was easy to install and better than helicoil.

Inserts do not work properly.
My 2004R transmission I am rebuilding needed the trans mount bolt holes to be repaired. I bought this kit, along with the M8x1.25 kit from this company, and when they arrived, they looked good. The drill worked nicely, the counterbore tool worked nicely, and the installer worked nicely. However, the inserts (all), in both kits, were tapped all the way through on the inner diameter. Genuine TimSerts have partially formed threads at the very bottom of the insert, so the tool expands the insert and mechanically locks it into place. With these being tapped all the way through, they will not lock into place. Had to order genuine TimeSerts. Kit works, but beware of the improperly machined inserts.

Better than helicoil
This product replaces stripped threads. Well worth the cost versus helicoil.

Works as described
I had a damaged M10x1.5 thread on the bellhousing of my Ford 2.3L EcoBoost gearbox.I followed the steps and ended up with a good repair: drill, clean, tap, clean, countersink, clean/degrease, and install the insert. What you need in addition to this repair kit is a drill, some Loctite 271 to secure the insert, and some high-pressure grease to lube the applicator. I used CMD Lube #3, a fantastic lube for all critical fasteners, including rod bolts, main bolts, and head bolts, instead of the ARP graphite grease that leaves dark deposits all over the engine. You also need oil for tapping. I used some Lucas SAE 30 break-in oil that happened to be handy, a tap driver, and some degreasing and cleaning materials. One crucial thing that needs highlighting: you must sink the insert below the deck surface a couple of tenths of a millimeter (that would be 5-10 thou), so use the supplied countersink cutter (3rd picture) and make sure the insert does not protrude or even comes flush with the surface when installed, you want it slightly below the deck surface. This is crucially important to ensure you pull on the part being bolted on instead of just trying to crush the insert when torquing later and not applying the tightening torque on the part.
