Great book for puppy training. I love the way it makes you rethink your way of communicating with your dog. I wish I would of had this years ago with my other 2 dogs. Highly recommend!!!

so far, this book is very helpful with training our new puppy! Great price for the product. Much more cost effective than a puppy training class that ultimately just trains the trainer.

I can't say enough about this book. Within a week, my dogs that I adopted from El Salvador went from barking and nearly biting children as they pass by to...sitting on command, coming, staying, playing better, no pulling on the leash. It was really frustrating before and I'd resort to yelling at them and confusing them.Granted, I had to learn a lot about training before they could ever make a change in their behavior, but this book taught me everything I needed to know. It brings tears to my eyes when I see my dogs learning and overall it has created a stronger bond between us. We communicate with a combination of verbal and sign language that they finally understand. It's absolutely incredible. Thank you so much!!!

This is, quite simply, the best training book out there. It is short (which makes it easy to refer back to previous steps), loaded with useful information, and a pleasure to read. I've been using it with my newly-adopted 1-year old, and finally feel like I know what I'm doing with training him (and myself). I can't believe how many dog training books I have on my bookshelf, all of which have left me (and my dogs) more confused than when we started. McConnell's book is concise, practical, and covers all bases with a touch of humor and tons of good will. It's the only dog training book you'll need.

Finally - a book that teaches ME how to train my dogs (I have 3) step by step - just what I needed. I saw immediate progress and am still working with the book to complete training. I am so excited at how well this book has helped me and my "family"! Real training help!

Simple and well written. Nothing earthshaking, but some tips and points I would have missed or not applied correctly. A good book all in all. My 20 week old Black and Tan is sitting and laying with hand signs, and (so far) has always come when called.

Useful information.

This is an excellent book - and I've read quite a few! The plans are easy to follow, and work well, in easy stages - even with a slightly older puppy - they are especially useful if you want to teach your young dog to pay attention, and come back to you without losing your calm. Patricia doesn't preach a counsel of perfection - she deals with a real world, real people, and dogs who aren't always sure what we want of them - I have found her ideas and attitude of huge help.
