Oh man, am I glad I got this tool! This is a big, heavy chunk of steel. You aren't going to break it! Comes with the right sized metric bolts for the harmonic balancer on my Toyota 4.7L V8. It made taking the pulley bolt out a BREEZE. Last time I did a timing belt on another Toyota V8, I used a 2 X 4 with three holes drilled in it, making my own pulley holding tool. What a joke. It wasn't worth it. It was cumbersome to use, took awhile to make, and wasn't strong enough. The bolts got all bent up and the wood starting cracking. Do yourself a favor and buy the right tool. It will make the job much less time consuming both when taking off, and reinstalling the pulley bolt. I don't recommend "bumping" the starter to remove the bolt with a breaker bar wedged to the frame. I broke a bolt off doing that once. And then how are you going to get it tight enough when re-installing? And on my Tundra and Sequoia, there is not enough room to get an impact wrench in front of the motor, so that's not an option either. Buy this tool!

Awesome Tool, Worked perfectly on a 2004 Tundra 4.7 V-8
I helped a friend replace the timing belt in a 2004 Toyota Tundra with the 4.7 liter V-8. Before starting, I watched a few You Tube videos to get an idea of the scope of the job. The videos of 2 by 4's bolted to the pulley or holding the pulley with a chain wrench looked pretty sketchy :-) After reading the reviews of this tool, I ordered one. It arrived quickly and I quickly noticed it is very well built.The crank bolt was a little stubborn, but it eventually spun out with a 1/2 inch drive impact wrench and a 22 mm impact socket. When it came time to install the pulley, we bolted the Schley tool to the pulley with the two provided bolts, plugged a 24 inch 1/2 inch drive breaker bar into the tool and oriented the breaker bar up inside the engine compartment. My friend held the breaker bar up top, while I climbed underneath and torqued the crank nut to 181 foot pounds. The whole process was quick and painless. There was no cracking of 2 by 4's and no chain marks in the pulley :-)This is a heavy duty tool and will last forever. It is perfect for this job.

Useful Little Guy
Super useful tool - once in a long while (lest ye be a bitter soul). Basically its too expensive for a cast hunk of metal and a couple grade 10 bolts. Other than price I give it five stars and I'd buy it again. I have an '04 Lexus GS300 and it worked like a charm as it should for any family of the 2JZ engine family. The job foe me would otherwise have been impossible without the counter hold provided by this tool, a breaker bar, and the frame of the car (took a 5' wrench to break the crank pulley loose). So, after punishing it with some torque, it's no worse for the wear, though I'd requarly replace the bolts if you use this tool much.

This tool is amazing
I would give this kick a** made in the USA tool 10 stars if I could. After bending several class 8 & 10 bolts with a “universal” pulley holder I decided to give this a try. It took me less than 2 minutes to get the bolt off of a 2004 Toyota 4Runner 4.7 ltr with 268,000 miles on it. This is the first timing belt change for this engine so the bolt had been in there since the factory put it in. I put one breaker bar under the frame to hold this tool and turned the other. This tool is heavy duty and I can’t wait to use it again!

The tool you need.
If you're doing a timing belt replacement on a Toyota, this is the tool you need. I know if works for the 2UZ-FE V8's, not sure if it fits for other engines. Anyway, this tool makes cracking and re-tightening the harmonic damper pulley a breeze. I've replaced the timing belt on 2 2UZ-FE motors, the fist time without this tool and the second time with the tool. Hands down it's the only way to go. The tool is a bit expensive for what you get, but it is a massive heavy piece of steel that will last forever, and makes the job soooo much easier.

This tool is HEAVY DUTY !!
Replaced the timing belt on my 2004 Lexus RX330. The Schley tool was an absolute necessity!!! No way possible to get that harmonic balancer off any other way. Once the Schley was bolted on it was like butter breaking that big bolt loose. Only thing is the price is steep for a tool you'll probably only use once . But hey , still WAAAAY cheaper than taking it to a shop for sure!

Works on a 3sgte gen3 engine!
I used this on a 3sgte gen 3 engine for my 1994 Toyota mr2. With the engine out, and trying an impact wrench I had no more options other than to take off the transmission which would’ve added a lot more work. Luckily I found this by searching on google. It was not even mentioned in the mr2 owners forums.The bolts for the tool fit in the holes on the pulley but weren’t fully secured (i don’t think there’s thread in it) but it was secured enough for me to put a extension through the hole to hold it against the engine block. And with a breaker bar I was able to get the crankshaft pulley bolt off with ease. Thank you! This saved me hours and money!

Worth the money even if I never use it again. Made short work of removing then retorque to 181 ft/pounds the crank pulley bolt on my GX470 4.7l V8
