Schylling Brand Classic 20" Retro Sock Monkey Stuffed Animal - Knitted Texture Original Look - Ages 12 Months and Up

As a child, I used to see sock monkeys on craft shows (Carol DuVall comes to mind) and pine after them, but I never had the opportunity to make or own one. In December of 2010, for one of my milestone birthdays as an adult, I decided I'd get myself the sock monkey I've always wanted. This seemed to be the best-looking one I could find already made, which was the best option for me given my limited time and the price of buying the supplies to make my own.Note that while I do on occasion hug this sock monkey (he's VERY huggable!), I treat this little guy as something of a collectible -- as I do all of my plushies. He sits on my bed, but is never roughly treated or tossed around or anything of that sort. As such, I can't attest to durability when compared to how a child might play with a stuffed animal, but I can say that three years later mine still looks as good as new.He's adorable, looks as if he's made with actual socks, and very soft to the touch. Overall, I'm happy with my sock monkey and glad I made the purchase. This is a quality and affordable product.

Excellent sockonkwy

Okay - so it is NOT the original Sock Monkey that some people remember, but it IS a sock monkey. Well made, holds up to being the best friend of a two-year old very well. He holds his color nicely through many washes. The stitching - despite the washing, night time cuddles, and playing at the park with my son, has shown no signs of wear at all. He buckles quite nicely in the car next to the car seat too lol!! He is soft all over, and the long arms make it easy for my son to drag him everywhere. We calls ours "Rupert" and he has become a very important part of my sons days and nights. He even went for his own hair cut, and sat in the chair next to my son! As far as the lack of moving parts, flashing lights, and actions sounds - no problem there. The simple design makes for important imaginative play skills, and lends itself to be whatever my sons wants this toy to be. There are no limitations to what Rupert can do and be for my son.

I had a monkey much like this when I was a child, that was later passed on to my children when they were little.... that little monkey is now gone and my 17 year old daughter has been saying for a long time that she really loved that thing, and that she wished that she had a monkey of her own. I got online and found this one on Amazon, at a spectacular price. I had it shipped to her directly and gave her hints about the package that would soon arrive. She was like a little kid again when she opened the box and found her new friend inside. I saw the little fellow myself a few weeks later, and I must say that the construction, size, quality, and cuteness is top notch! I will buy again from this dealer for all of my future monkey business!

This is gift for grandchild

I bought it for me but felt guilty because I ordered more for me that I sacrificed this one for my neighbor boy. This is a well made product and so adorable.

Sock monkeys have been around for a while now. They were around when I was a young one. That means they have stood the test of time. They still have their fans and my sister always wanted one. I got her one and yes, she is happy with it. That matters. There are many manufacturers of this product. This is not just a single manufacturer of this toy. Not all care for it, but it has been around a long time so that says something good for it. She’s happy so I am also. It only matters how she feels as she is the end user. I love my little buddy so much. I bought my first Schylling Sock Monkey in October of 2005. He was purchased for my daughter and has traveled with us so many far places among them Blizz-Con's, ComiCons, theme parks, Zoo's, many restaurants, out of state trips through harsh deserts, and moist forests. He has survived many years of brutal weather and treatment and has had a few repairs along the way.He never complained and was always a good friend. In 2010 I was hospitalized and paralyzed on full life support. My daughters who both had a Schylling Sock Monkey they loved put them in the hospital bed with me where they remained for the duration of 18 months. They were moved around, shuffled along, tossed aside by Nurses but somehow always found their way back to my side. Always loyal always a good companion and friend.The quality stitching and cuteness that make up their materials can only last so long so expect a few battle scars and repairs which only add to your buddy's personality.
