Not the best, not the worst.
I think the "Dummies" AutoCAD books do a better job for beginners but that's just an opinion, not fact. It's 770 pages plus a disk with exercises & "color images" (how modern - like TV's in a motel room). The book itself is a boring black and white. The exercises would be more interesting if they included more examples from various design vocations. One of the reasons I liked the old Dummies books was because they started their books with setting up your version of AutoCAD to work with your unique drafting needs along with some basic good-practice "standards" for computer aided design. This book jumps right in to drawing a line on page 29 after a basic introduction to the interface. That's all fine for many people but I like the idea of setting my table and preparing my meal before drafting or eating. As for the content, it's OK. I have trouble reading the small type in many of the graphics - you need to read it and there are many graphics with text. The images aren't crisp. That makes reading the book a slow pain in the a$$ more than a pleasure. The book is easy to understand but it leaves me wanting something better.
