Amazing
Used it with a long copper piece to ground myself in the bath. Love it.

It Works
You can test the resistance of this cable. DO NOT test for an open or a short. Test for RESISTANCE. There is a built-in "current-limiting resistor in the cable. (The diode setting on your multimeter will NOT register a reading. It is used to check for opens and shorts and diodes which are "open" in one direction and "short" in the other. To test this cable, set your digital multimeter to read ohms. Set to 200K. Connect your leads to each end and you should read approximately 100K of resistance.

Tested with a continuity tester
The media could not be loaded. Instructions said not to use a continuity tester and to use a multimeter instead. I tested it with the multimeter first and did in fact get a 98.7 reading. Unfortunately, that meant nothing to me as I am just starting out so these testers and their results are also new to me. Instead, I plugged the one end into the ground outlet and I clipped my grounding fabric to the alligator clip. Then I used the continuity tester on the fabric. This is a simple yes or no response (lit for ground or not lit for not grounded) and it did light up green. That's all I needed to see.

100k resistor renders product useless
There is a 100k resistor between the cable and the alligator clip. The resistor is supposed to be a safety feature, which may be fine in a static discharge application, but I was looking for a way to reference ground for an audio application. The 100k resistor renders it completely useless. I wasn't getting proper grounding until I clipped the resistor off and resoldered the components together. The sellers should understand that the resistor severely limits the usefulness of the product and that it should be advertised more clearly rather than being hidden in the fine print.

Works great.
It's long enough to move around to a receptacle or even outside to a ground rod if need be. Didn't cost much so better than making one. Recommend.

Provides more certainty of being properly grounded while still being free to move.
This product is a straight forward way to ground yourself while working on electronics. Trying to figure out how to accomplish this is difficult. Google the subject and this posting is incomplete or this youtube video tells you to clip to this part of the computer chassis and hope and pray you are actually grounded. This product just connects you straight to the ground on your three pronged AC plug. Assuming your wiring was done to code you don't try and shove the thing into the wrong socket you should be properly grounded. The length of the wire means you won't have to perform your repair one handed because you need to keep your wrist and strap close to whatever your connected it to hoping that it will ground you. Recommend including a grounding mat. iFixit has one on Amazon that is pretty good. you can connect the mat and your wrist strap to the wire. Hope this helps and good luck.

Great grounding strap for ESD control
For those thinking there isn't continuity, there is a 1megohm resitance in line with this cord. It's used for safe grounding of a person or equipment to dissipate a static charge, not supply a hard ground. ESD grounding cords will have either 1megohm or at least 100kohm resistance, not be a hard short. Same for the wires that come with the esd wrist straps. Such cords should be check before use for your own safety as well as ESD effectiveness. The resistance is for safe dissipation as well as personal safety.
