Frederick (Leo Lionni's Friends): A Lift-the-Flap Book

Frederick is a perfect book. Great story and the lift-the-flaps are fun, book is well constructed.

One of my favorite children's books. Purchased as a gift.

I bought this for a new great-nephew and it's been a huge hit with his folks. He's still too little, but he at least is enjoying touching the book which is super sturdy for little touches.

As expected since it is a Lift-a-Flap board book (and says "Leo Lionni's Friends" meaning it is one of the posthumously created board books with Mr Lionni's characters)... this is an ADAPTATION of the original story made to appeal to infants and young toddlers. The adapted text is reasonably good, although I find it uneven (simple question/answer format for the first few pages and then all of a sudden, tons of words on the last few - including a less-than-poetic conclusion, which was disappointing). However, my 9-month-old who is currently obsessed with Leo Lionni illustrations and loves Lift-a-Flap, approves of this version. He won't have the attention span for the original story for a while yet, so I am content with this in the meantime.

The book was a present for my great nephew.He loves lift the flap books!
