The perfect introductory book
I am not yet a student of Popular Culture, although I hope to be once I have the time and money to do a PhD in the subject. To prepare myself for a course in this fascinating area I bought the 9th edition of Professor John Storey's book as an introduction to the field.Often experts in a field can assume quite a lot of prior knowledge, and I was a little worried that the content would have me running to google every 5 minutes, but I needn't have worried. Unfamiliar subject specific words are defined clearly and the book itself is a model of clarity. That's not to say that some of the concepts weren't a challenge, but thanks to this book they are a challenge I am meeting slowly but surely. Professor Storey makes the concepts clear with well chosen examples and is not afraid to express disagreement with areas that he sees as problematic.Whether you are an undergraduate, prospective post-graduate or simply someone interested in the field, Professor Storey has produced the perfect book to demystify the subject and equip you with the tools you need to move on in the subject.
