If you’re unsure just buy it
I used this book for one section of the PCT, from Fish Lake to Crater Lake. I typed up a pretty detailed guide to use on the trail so I didn’t have to carry the book. It made making the trip so easy, as I had basically no prior knowledge of the different section in Oregon. The book provides information on water sources, permits, finding spots with views, alternate routes, camp sites, dispersed camping, packing essentials, connecting trails, background information, even GPS odometer mileage tracking for each section to help guide you. I didn’t have an odometer but my fitbit helped in that department. Overall a very comprehensive guide that I highly recommend.

Best Section Books Out there!
I plan to section hike the PCT in mostly small sections. Previous section books I'd found were called "PCT Section Hiking" but really were if you just wanted to get your feet on the PCT. THIS series of books is more than I could have hoped for and makes it so easy! I had previously spent hours and hours planning small sections, researching where to leave my car, which wilderness, what permits were needed, and on and on. This series (all different authors, but organized the same way, wonderful!) provides all the need to know info, plus very detailed commentary on each segment/leg. So grateful! So good!

Awesome information for any hiker of any skill level
This book is rad. Awesome information for any hiker of any skill level. Doing a 30 mile section or the full state is made really simple with this book. Excellent information on resupply points (what I personally find to be the biggest pain of distance treks) and trail strategies and itineraries. I've hit many sections of the pct, but am doing from Crater Lake in Oregon to Rainy Pass in Washington this summer. I also bought the Washington counterpart book. With these books, my gear, my skill and some good old fashioned paper maps, I feel confident that my trip, though difficult, will be very successful. Will update in September if any info is false or troublesome.

Key piece of your PCT adventure!
I’ve purchased a few books while I prep for my PCT section hike this fall. This is the book I’ve begun to solely use. I use this for most of my planning and I’m an avid planner ( my wife says too much). Pair this with some online message boards and your all set! Great camp to camp mileages, water alerts and resupply information and strategies. In my humble opinion I’d say buy this one if your hiking the PCT in Oregon

BEST HIKING GUIDE EVER. So impressed.
This book is extraordinary. Every detail. Every section. Every mile. I can't get enough, frankly. Will probably buy the other 2 states without plans to hike them just to have MORE OF THIS BOOK! I'd love to have more trail guides like this. I have SO many hiking books but this really takes the cake. Happy Trails with this book!

My son plans to hike the Oregon portion of the PCT and requested this book. It was so interesting, I read it myself and hope to join him for one of the sections. This book has great details to help plan the trip.
