Indecision indeed.
This is my 3rd Lexi Graves and of course my favorite. The mystery basis was pretty good, but the romance is what keeps me going in this series. If you don't want any spoilers then stop reading because my opinion is going to be a bit of a spoiler. I love Lexi she is fun, smart and just all around a great girl. I have some hold backs with her boyfriend Adam, which is why when Solomon got a chance I was sooooo happy. (a) Adam is an idiot. This story opens up and yes it's even in the preview with what causes their break up. Lexi is following up a lead for Solomon in her home city and sees Adam getting cozy with another girl. She dumps his sorry schmuck self by text... LOL. So seriously your undercover in your home city (not really happenin) plus you don't mention to your girlfriend who knows your undercover that you have to play the boy toy in your little game. Duh, your g/f is a PI who works with other PI's and is also related to 50% + of the local PD anyone could have seen you. Adam you are DUMB! You begged Lexi for full disclosure no secrets and let her unravel this on her own. (b) When Adam finally catches up to Lexi he throws out all the stops and tosses the "L" word at her. Seriously, you only offered a drawer in your house previously. Now it's oh Lexi please come back, I love you. So yes, I don't like Adam. He's cute, he's pretty good to Lexi but the spark it's just missing. Now Solomon, ahhh, she admits an absolute spark and a magnetic attraction not to mention kisses that collapse her knees. The man has waited and allowed Adam the chance to prove himself now he's got a chance and he taking it. I think Solomon needs to open up to Lexi more, but what reasons has she given him up until now. Why would someone waste their time to bare their soul if their isn't a long term on the table. Solomon supports Lexi, when Adam tried to be big cave man protector. As far as his distance at the end of the book, I think he was waiting for her to prove to him that she wants him and he wasn't just a rebound. So yes, summing it all up, I am team Solomon. Now please Ms. Chafer don't make her go running back to Adam for comfort because he is what she knows. I really hope Solomon gets a good fair chance. Also, anyone who enjoys this story should look up Liliana Hart and the Addison Holmes series.

A good cotton candy romance romp, with a few cross cultural oopsies.
Okay, romances are cotton candy for the mind. A vacation from serious craft reading and research for my own books. In the Lexi Graves series Camilla writes some very serious, and fun cotton candy.Unfortunately she makes a few oopsies in the cross cultural category:1) I grew up an a small town Irish-American Neighborhood. The local Irish-American police chief was one of my neighbors. None of the Irish-American girls I grew up with were anything like Lexi in the sexual department. They were more tough-minded than awash in libido. The Libidinous ones were the Italian-Americans and Yankees. Maybe British Isles girls are way different from the ones who came to and grew up on the western side of the Pond. These romances read like an adolescent boy's fever dream. I know, I was one once.2) English slang: years ago I took Chris Nuttal to task for his malappropriate use of British slang terms applied to American characters and locales. For instance no native Texan has a Flat in Dallas. I'm one of Chris' biggest fans now that he's writing British Sci-Fi. I appreciate that he puts in a list of British/Milltary slang and their Ami-English translations with each book.I fear Camilla doesn't realize that her American audience can easily get the wrong impression when she put's British Slang into the mouths of supposedly American characters. For instance the British slang term "Grafter" which in Brit-Slang means one who is diligent and works hard; in Ami-Slang "Grafter" (dictionary definition) means one who is taking Graft and stealing from the government. Opposite meanings depending the audience. Grafter in Ami-Slang is almost equivalent to "Grifter", a confidence man or woman. In "Command Indecision" the use of the term to describe the murdered girl makes it sound, to American Ears, like she had it coming, hardly the effect that Camilla had in mind I'm sure. This brings to mind Churchill's comment that we are one people divided by a common language. This being said, I sometimes like this kind of tastefully sexy cotton candy. I like strong female characters who are not just guys with breasts. The internal dialog of women is a mystery that all guys, at least the ones who are paying attention, are interested in understanding. Admittedly, since this is a romance novel series Lexi and Lily are probably a bit over the top on the libido side and slightly more scatterbrained than I think a realistic female protagonista would be. At very least, more than the women and girls I've known and loved are.I commend Camilla for stretching out the tortuous approach / avoidance dance of the classic Romance plot into such a long series of novels. If she can keep it going without losing the dramatic tension my hat is off to her. I thought stretching one of my romance biographies out to a four book series was a stretch.

Fun and Frustrating!
I may be the only person who doesn't read the Stephanie Plum books so the pattern is not as familiar to me. However, I'm on Team Maddox. I felt Lexi was so wrong to not only not take his calls but to fall immediately into bed with her boss. (?) She knows he goes undercover, SHE'S been under cover, SHE talked about the importance of confidentiality and then acted like a petulant toddler instead of being a woman and affording him the opportunity to explain (which he tried and tried to do). I felt from the get go after Solomon once announced, "I know everything" that he sent her to that restaurant knowing that Maddox's cover entailed a woman. He's smooth...and shady, imo. I find Maddox to be the one with more integrity and the one who cares the most about her.Maddox seems to actually be in love with her, while with Solomon there's that mysterious thing....but I'm left somewhat cold about the two of them. I'm not sure how this series will continue if she stays with Solomon. At any rate, WHEN does the next book come out? I just read this entire series in a few days and the suspense is going to kill me. I hope if Lexi does Maddox wrong (AGAIN!), the author will bring him a woman that actually appreciates him. Maybe that Rebecca is going to end up the winner in the end. All in all, a really fun read.
