The plastic dome doesn't stay in.
It does help the picture quality compared to just the flash alone. Not the easiest to install on the flash and the dome just won't stay in place.

Excellent Product, good value
This generation diffuser attaches securely and does a very nice job softening the light. The materials and workmanship are good. I expect it to last a long time.A hot shoe flash unit will but out a beam of light that, if you're not careful, will look like you lit the subject with a miner's headlamp. A diffuser softens and broadens the beam and protects against that problem. Nothing is free, though. It is likely to cost a stop or maybe two of exposure. If you are using TTL flash metering then the adjustment will be automatic. If in manual mode you have to remember to compensate. Also, in a small room (studio, or even living room) there will be wall and ceiling bounce and if the walls are not white then possibly a color cast. If in a larger room, such as at a wedding, then no bounce. Practicing at home when you first get the unit won't prepare you for that larger space.

Must have if you're using a single flash.
Nice addition to your flash. This will give much nicer flash pictures if your flash is still on your camera (no remote flash). If you're indoors using your flash on your camera or even holding your flash in your hand using it as a single remote flash, the gary fong lightsphere will give you much pictures with a softer light. If your using a single flash buy this, put on your flash and aim your flash up (toward the ceiling). This will give you a less harsh more even light on your subject. This kit, for the same price, came with a few added camera accessories that were okay. Most of the accessories were things you'd never buy by themselves but they come for free with this kit so grab the kit as it costs the same as the Lightsphere by itself. This item for an add-on flash not your camera built-in flash.

Seemed complicated.
Couldn't figure out how to connect flash with dome on. Configuration for settings on flash were off with using product. Was recommended by a fellow Photographer to use with my camera. Going to finagle with it for a while and see how it goes.

Spend the extra $$$... get the Fong
This diffuser is well worth the extra money. I bought the neweer first and it was ok. Too wouldn’t stay on and the light was good..... or so I thought. I bought this after getting annoyed with the top and yes, it is definitely worth them extra money. I didn’t think it would be holy sh.... yeah it is.

Perfect diffuser!!
Love this diffuser, I use it a lot for portraits and events. It’s fairly easy to use but sometimes if you’re in a rush it can be annoying to put together. I’d recommend, if you have the space for it, to just carry it in one piece or make sure you assemble it before you start shooting to save the hassle of putting together on the spot. Cheers!

Great addition to your camera gear.
for years I have been planning to get one of these but kept hesitating. I have one know and I love it. As with anything there is a learning curve on how best and when to use it but that is part of the process. I just practice with it and learn where it make sense and where it is not the best tool to use. If you don't currently have any type of modifier on your camera flash...I highly recommend this item.

Overall very good product. Soft plastic part came a little yellowish.
This is a great product that diffuses light very well for event photographers. Is a must have for its portability. My only complaint is with the product itself. The soft plastic, which should have come completely white, came a little yellowish. This happens when the plastic is old. I guess that this kind of product should have a rebate, because manufacturing is old. This product should have an "sales expiration date", after that a rebate is a welcome plus. Happens with translucent smartphone plastic covers also.
