Snowed in for Christmas is not only a romantic Christmas novel, but also a story that highlights everyday struggles women face within a family and how expectations affect each of them.Lucy is dealing with the loss of her Grandmother who raised her and who had died 2 years before at Christmas; her story highlights everyoneโs struggle of bottling up their emotions to try and convince themselves and others that theyโre okay.Alice is a career driven woman who spends her days working in a busy A&E looking after patients when they need her most; sheโs plagued by the expectations of getting married and having children from her family and society, when sheโs not sure itโs what she really wants.Clemmie loves children and wants nothing more than to have one of her own, she sets out on an IVF journey so she can have a child by herself; sheโs met by a lot of backlash from her family over the fact she would be a single mother with no one to support her.Glenda feels like a failure and a bad mother, sheโs shocked to find her children have kept things from her and feels responsible for how things panned out; she spends the whole of Christmas trying to keep Nanna Jean in check and tryโs to help her children the best she can without over stepping.Sarah Morgan has dealt with incredibly complex issues faced by women, and society as a whole, in a thought provoking and light way that was easy to read and pulled at my emotions, I must admit I teared up a few times. Sarahโs use of multi POV wasnโt confusing and kept the story flowing, and her use of both a fast and slow pace kept me on my toes and begging to find out what happened next.I loved all the characters in this book and Nanna Jean has to be my favourite; her warm welcome to everyone and her impeccable meddling skills made me laugh and smile so much my cheek muscles hurt; she definitely made me miss my Grandma a wee bit. Rossโs sarcasm spoke to me, and a lot of people will relate to his struggles with proving his worth to his family and taking his time to find the right person. Big shout out to Nico, Douglas and Fergus for being understanding and for being there for our girls as they went through their personal struggles.I am incredibly excited to see what my mum thinks once sheโs finished reading, and Iโm looking forwards to reading more of Sarahโs work. For lovers of:- Christmas romance- Small town romance- Forced proximity- Feminism in literature- Complex family dynamics- Books that deal with grief & loss- Books set in Scotland- Multi POVs

No family Christmas is perfect!

The only thing itโs missing is a prologue - I want to know about both Clemmie and Lucy a year down the line. But this is the one Christmas book I think perfect summarises any family Christmas. I mean for those of you that have the family together, we know siblings fight. Thereโs secrets kept from family members because of the pressure of their reactions. This book fully absorbs that these family tiffs are part of what makes Christmas interesting. And it helps if one of the best characters is a nosy Nan that deliberately interferes (in best interests of course)! This book was all things hilarious, with just a tad of grief and sadness mixed in. But I just couldnโt put it down - from the blurb you know that Lucy is going to turn up and be mistaken as Rossโ girlfriend but you need to understand that the fact โActual Lucyโ is in their house is soooo troublesome!I just want to take a moment to say thank you so so much to the team over at HQ Stories and Sarah Morgan for gifting me this book along with a Christmas card from Sarah, a tote bag and a handful of sweet treats! I never win competitions on Booksta so Iโm so grateful!

You know you are reading a good book when you resent the need for sleep!
Beautifully written romance of sorts set in Scotland. I became so wrapped up in the cosy warmth of this tale that I resented the need to get some beauty sleep in the middle. From the start and the introduction I expected a focus upon the developing attraction between Lucy and Ross. However, the book intertwined a whole series of relationships, 4 in all, and it was a little disconcerting at times trying to follow the different threads. In fact, in some ways the relationship between Lucy and Ross was the least finalised by the end and it was, perhaps, more about how members of a family can support each other if they communicate with each other.A little warning that the book ended at 91% on my Kindle. I do find it really annoying when that happens as you are all geared up to see what happens next in the final few chapters... and then it doesn't. This means the book ends on a frustrating disappointment for the reader and I nearly dropped my rating to 4 stars but had enjoyed reading this delightful book so much up to that point, I decided to let it scrape through regardless.Small niggle: isn't drinking alcohol whilst on medication strongly contraindicated, so why did Dr Alice encourage Lucy to do so?
