Field of View is Awsome
I have had several Nikon products - rifle scopes and binoculars - and simply see no reason to spend more on other brands. These NIKON PROSTAFF P7 8X30 are fantastic. Nikon says they have the widest field of view of this series and frankly they surprised me. Image clarity and ease of focus are spot on as well. These will be my "go to" binoc's and follow up with my Nikon 10-20 power variables if I need a closer look.P.S. This is a wholly UN-solicited and personal evaluation.

Great for birders.
I bought these for my wife to use for birding while we are on our pedal kayaks in the California Delta. The water- and fog-resistant features were important and Nikon quality did not disappoint. She uses these every time we go out and marvels at the quality of the optics. Excellent product.

Good image, worth the money
I upgraded to these from my Nikon trailblazers (8x25). The image is brighter, more true to color, and the focus is crisp.

Worth the money
The glass on these binos is so clear. My children had got me a pair of bnos that were twice the price of these for Christmas. I recently had a chance to try the prostaff while visiting a friend and was so impressed by the clarity, i ordered a set right there. The nikon prostaffs are better than my mavens in clarity and ear of use. It pains me to say that but its the truth. Great glass for the price point. Great for birdwatching, hunting or watching cattle in the pasture. Would buy again in a second.

Glasses wearer Nikon Prostaff P7 10 x 30
First of all, I wear glasses all the time. I have seen a few reviews that have said that these are no good for people who wear glasses. That is not true. These focus perfectly and adjust so that I see everything clearly. If you wear your glasses at the end of your nose, then that may be a problem. Also, there is a reviewer here on Amazon that recommends the Opticron 48 - 50 mm objective lens covers. Model # 31023. It looks like their review is for a different model, but same lens size and Amazon has grouped them all together. Those do NOT fit. They are too big. I purchased those and had to return them. The 47 - 48mm outer diameter ones fit perfectly. Model # 31047.These are excellent quality binoculars; too bad they could not supply better objective lens covers. The case is pretty flimsy for these also...

Edge to edge clarity not up to par. (10x42) But 2nd pair in 8x30 excellent!
Will compare Vortex Crossfire with the new Prostaff P7 both in 10x42. Edge to edge clarity is considerably better with the Crossfire, on the Nikon the right barrel is a bit worse than the left in this respect. Center on field clarity is very good on both. Colors are more vivid with the Vortex. Focus wheel is a tiny bit more precise with the Nikons. The Nikon is and feels a little lighter than the Vortex. The objective lenses set further in on the Nikons and therefore are protected better with less need for objective covers in the field. My impression is that warenty service is better with Vortex ( I know first hand Vortex is superb in this respect) Maybe I just got a bad specimen with the Nikons? Update : I ordered the P7 in 8x30 before receiving the 10x42s. The 8x30s are a very easy 5 star in every way. Better than I hoped! Amazing binocular and not just for the price. 8x30 so good it leads me to believe I simply got a defective pair in the 10x42s. Going to raise my rating of the Prostaff P7 from 3 stars to 5.

Color saturation dissappointing. Lens caps almost useless.
For the price, these binoculars are a very good value. Side by side comparison to other brands my friends have and the color saturation of the Prostaff P7 was disappointing. Maybe it's just what you get at this price point. The image is very sharp, and the focus is very smooth. Like so many others the lens caps are pathetic. They fall off, get lost, and are useless because they are missing after a short while since the tethering concept is junk.

Great design and feel, but…
Seller was great about the return, thus the three stars. I have Nikon Monarchs, as does my daughter, granddaughter has 8x42 Nikon Prostaff, all high quality optic performance. Love Nikons and wanted to love these binos as the feel was great, size was perfect, but between chromatic aberration in one and uneven collimation in the replacement, I can only hope these were a fluke and not the quality control trend for the newer Nikons…

Good optics, cheap build
Great pair of everyday binoculars - if you can get them on sale under C$200 they are worth it, otherwise not so much.Pros:- Large, immersive field of view- Bright optics, very good for their price category. Colour rendition is blander than, for example, a Vortex, but I think actually more realistic/accurate- Noticeable improvement over previous models (I tested the P3, 7S… don’t even look at those, they are definitely worse)- Misc: oleophobic coatings, small size, light weight, locking right eye diopter, large eyepiece lenses with good eye relief, adjustable eye cupsCons:Nikon unfortunately cut corners on the overall build quality and it shows everywhere.- Pathetic lens caps made of flimsy plastic - they fall off are completely useless. When you see them you don’t know if to laugh or to cry…- Loose focus wheel - hard to maintain stable focus- Cheap low quality soft case with no strap, cheap generic box (from a P3 with a new sticker applied over), generic all-purpose 1 page manual- Eye cups are loose and wobbly- No tripod mountOverall, I found the optical quality and image impressive, as these are a new generation (with higher end features such as phase coated prisms). The cheap build quality, presentation and accessories are disappointing to see.Too bad for the great optics, Nikon could have really made a great product if they didn’t needlessly cheap out on a few small but essential things.

Very good quality for the price
The outside of these have a soft grippy rubber coating for protection and the focusing wheel is super smooth and precise.. a thing of beauty. The eye cups are adjustable for those that wear glasses and have a positive 'click' when turning. They also have a locking diopter ring.. a feature often missing on more expensive bins.Optically, the Nikon P7's are superior to the P3 line as they use dielectric coatings on the prisms which improve light transmission that result in a brighter image. I was amazed how much detail I could resolve in dark shadows with these. There is some chromatic aberration (blue fringe) when viewing dark objects against light backgrounds but it's minimal and not very noticeable. The Field of View is impressive for a 10x42.. it's almost as wide as their 8x42 bins. The only downer is the cheap end caps that pop-off way too easily and will probably get lost. Amazon carry Svbony caps which are a good replacement and fit snugly.Very happy overall with these.

Clear View
Great view even with my bad vision - These are certainly worth the money - Dump the eyeglasses and focus in - You'll like what you see - (Going for cataract surgery next month) - Probably even nicer views of that Red Tailed Hawk
