Good quality, hot coal
Much better value than some of the other Bincho coals out there. Burns hot and long and you can always extinguish, dry and re-use the coals for next time. Will definitely again.

It works great
It takes a while to light but last a long time. It was well worth it.

Great for small hibachi grill
My husband stocks up on these. He is our grill master and particular about his binchotan. While these are not from Japan, they are very close replica made in Thailand and give off the perfect yakitori or yakiniku taste.

Sub par to competition. Fine for home use, but seriously lacking for professional application
This charcoal is fine if your just grilling at home, but it is seriously lacking for professional use. There’s no consistency to the size of the charcoal as it’s poorly packaged, most pieces are broken into small chunks. It takes forever to fully cherry, and once it is it burns down much faster than similar compressed bincho from other companies, also with less heat. If you’re cooking for a 6 hour service you need to restock your grill with charcoal at least twice. For home use this wouldn’t be an issue as you’re cooking at your leisure, but if you’re cooking 400+ skewers per service this is not a good value. It leeches into available time by starting slow and losing heat too quick, and as a result you’re spending more money for charcoal than you intended. This was my first and last purchase of this product. It’s extremely sub par to it’s competition

Mix it with binchotan
Got this ogtan charcoal to mix in with the premium binchotan that I bought from the bincho grill. great alternative to save and use less of the more expensive binchotan.

Awesome Yakitori Charcoal
The media could not be loaded. I used to buy real binchotan but it was too expensive for my frequent use of my yakitori grill. I tried this alternative for the first time and it is surprisingly great stuff. No smoke or smell whatsoever which is exactly what I need for great tasting yakitori.

Burns well. Arrived shattered all the way through.
I bought the 22lb box. Most of the pieces are shattered to about 2 inches. Other than that, the charcoal burns well.
