From the creators of Osmos comes Karmaka, a tactical card game set in a karmic universe. Players begin the game as lowly Dung Beetles. In life after life (hand after hand of cards) they climb their way up the Karmic Ladder, racing to see who will achieve Transcendence first. Score enough points to climb the Ladder and keep up with your rivals; stash a good selection of cards to your “Future Life”; and play cards for their abilities to help yourself or to hinder others. But what goes around comes around. A key tension in Karmaka is that after playing a card for its ability, a rival may take the card into their Future Life. Your actions may come back to haunt you in the next life...

Almost great, but not quite
Karmaka had beautiful art and an interesting new mechanism that I enjoyed playing. After playing the game several times though, I realized it would hard to teach to new players as the main strategy is not very obvious until multiple play-throughs. New and regular players can also suffer from analysis paralysis which can slow down the game significantly. This combined with small text that is hard to see from across the table makes it more of an issue. Also, there is no way to counter players from ganging up on one player. I feel this game could have been really special if these issues had been addressed. So, while I did enjoy playing it as a 2 player game and sometimes a 3 player game, I feel there are a lot better games out there to play with those amount of players. I could see some people enjoying this game though if the issues I talked about weren't a big deal to them.

This is an easy to learn and fun game
This is an easy to learn and fun game. Reasonably quick. Good 2 player game, I haven't tried with more.

Fun, thematic deckbuilder with gorgeous artwork
Fun, unique card game with elements of deck building and absolutely gorgeous artwork The theme also ties in exceptionally well, as cards you play in one life (round) can be used by opponents in future life/round. Hence, "what goes around comes around" (aka "karma," or "karmaka"). Choose and play your cards carefully and wisely to advance up the karmic ladder and be the first to reach nirvana to win. There are 3 different colors that play very differently, with a multicolor as well that counts as a wild. Green let’s you grow, play more cards, and even prolong lives (yours or opponents). Blue is all about thievery and deception, while red is destruction and discard. Essentially you are attempting to accumulate cards in your deeds pile, as this is what can move you up the karmic ladder at the end of a ‘life.’ But don’t neglect your future life pile, as that could vastly limit what you’re capable of doing in the next life. All in all, the game is worth a shot if you like card games. I enjoy it.

Great replay value, fun card strategy!
I backed this game on Kickstarter and have absolutely zero regrets. The game is fantastic & fun, the art is beautiful, and the game has unlimited replay value. In short, it's a strategy card game with karma. You have to reincarnate with enough points move up the karmic ladder and ultimately ascend. The cards you play can help you or hinder you opponents but, as karma works, your actions can have consequences. If you play a damning card on your opponent you have to offer it to them to use in their next life...what goes around comes around!

Fun, simple game that takes about 20-45 minutes
Fun, simple game that takes about 20-45 minutes. Beautiful artwork in the game. This game is easy to understand and takes a little strategy (not nearly as much as risk though) and planning ahead.
