How well do you remember your own Pity Party?
We've all had them, and not just in our early teens! Kathleen Lane is marvelously adept at revisiting and then translating memories from her own middle school years. Fortunately, she is equally talented in creating thought-provoking vignettes of other middle schoolers trying desperately to make their own way through those awkward and tumultuous years. My own emotions while reading fluctuated between laughing out loud ....and wanting to go hug someone's middle school-aged kid. (And whatever you do, don't miss her earlier book - "THE BEST WORST DAY" - even if you don't even have a middle schooler). Create some space on your bookshelf for this dynamic author! I think this is just the beginning of a very promising career.

Relatable
Loved this. Relatable, clever and touching. I would highly recommend this book. The author clearly remembers and articulates the complicated emotions we feel in our middle school years. I wish I had this book when I was young so I didn’t feel alone in my insecurities.
