The Purple Mountain Tamper is USA made. That was on my list for getting a decent 49mm tamper for my lever espresso machine. I also use a Rocket Tamper 58mm for my Rocket Cellini machine. It is works very well and is well made. The Purple Mountain Tamper is just as well made and is heavier than my Rocket one. I like that as it requires just a little more pressure to create and constantly repeat a good espresso. Yes they have their name on the top of it. So does Rocket which is well-recognized among those who use those great Rocket machines from Milano.

I have been searching for a good coffee tamper for quite some time until I found this one. Thanks to Purple Mountain for offering this excellent quality coffee tamper. It’s a one-piece construction and made out of solid non-magnetic food-grade stainless steel. It’s perfectly shaped, nicely finished, and it fits perfectly in my hand. It’s weighted almost 1.5 pounds and can be set on flat surface on either end. I like to make cappuccino with a semi-automatic espresso machine but found tampering coffee difficult using the tamper that came with the unit. This Purple tamper helps to compress coffee better, produces consistently denser pucks, thus thicker cappuccino for my taste. Overall, it makes preparing coffee more enjoyable. It’s worth every penny and I recommend this coffee tamper to everyone.
