Beauty and the Beast Rolled Into One Powerful Hammer.
Excellent Product. It is hard to believe that a basic tool, such as a hammer could be improved. We all have standard hammers and as part of a small kitchen tool kit, we have a couple of screw drivers and hammers from the dollar store. We are under going an extensive house remodeling and baring walls down to the studs.Pros:This hammer has a nice weight to it that it is hard to find in other brands. The side indention to remove nails is a must when working in tight spaces that don't allow the longer nail puller to be used. The grip is excellent. It allows for a firm grip when you need it most and cushions the blows to reduce stress to hand/joints.The flat head is exactly what we needed. (There is a version with the milled -indented- head)Magnetic nail started - Very useful.Solidly built in one piece. No welds or joints.Sears price is over $100 and Amazon has it for less than half the price. Home Depot price is comparable (as of this writing) to Amazon, but it is not always in stock or it may not be the 19 ounce version (as we found out).Cons:I only list the cons here that some people may find these important. We don't because the product does what we need it to do.* The price may be too steep for someone who occasionally drives a nail through the wall.* The color is black, not blue as described on Amazon's website.

15 oz milled face
Don’t let the reviews fool you, if you’re contemplating on buying this hammer just do it. Mine came out perfect I ordered the 15 oz milled face. Not a flaw in it. Very impressed!

Estwing means durable
I'm a big fan of the Estwing hammers. This is in the new style of full-size, lighter weight hammers that are all the rage now. After using a classic (blue) all steel Estwing for years, this style takes a bit of getting used to. For framing and banging studs together its great. Grip is what I'd expect for an Estwing and it is my preferred hammer grip. The side puller and nail set are surprisingly effective and useful. The only downside is the shorter distance from shank to face. This comes into play on sheets or siding where my knuckles are nearly touching the work at impact. I don't think there is risk of injury, it just feels a little weird swinging a hammer that way. On those type of tasks, I go back to the classic Estwing.

Love it
So much better than I expected. I am a professional trim carpenter. I am honestly more used to using 16 ounce hammers. However, I occasionally do other carpentry work like some framing and decks. I have found myself using this 19 ounce hammer so much more than expected. Even in my trim work. It's very well balanced and doesn't feel heavy at all. Loving it.

Great hammer. Nostalgic name.
This hammer is great. I recently replaced an old fiberglass handle hammer with this and the shock absorption of the Estwing is superior. I will say, the 15oz version I have does feel a little light for framing. It worked, but maybe a 20oz would have served me better. None the less, I chose this one because I liked the all black theme of it. It is a hammer and I in no way expect it to stay looking good, but I will say that my hammer loop is metal and it quickly wore and chipped the black paint off the base of the hammer head and most of the shaft where the Estwing name is. Like I said, I don't care because its a hammer...but if that is something that's going to bother you, then I'd suggest the unpainted all silver version.
