KEEN Women's Targhee 3 Mid Height Waterproof Hiking Boots

Finally found a good boot
I have never owned KEENs before. I do however have wide feet and toes that like to splay out. I love to hike especially in the mountains. If you’ve ever hiked inclines, you know how unfortunate it feels to have squished and bruised toes. I debated on a size 8 or 8w. I decided to go for the 8w. I will say they are very wide. For me, I love this. But I want to give the disclosure that I believe the regular size also runs a little wide as well. The insoles in these are a dream. Not memory foam soft, but comfortable right out of the box. They are sturdy enough to feel like you have enough support. I LOVE that these have a strap on the side. This allows you to tighten the boots around your ankle and keeps your feet from pushing to the front of the boot. For inclines, this is so so important. The arch support is phenomenal. These are very waterproof from what I have tested them in. Puddles and small streams mainly. KEEN as a brand have been pfas free since 2018 and keep the environment in mind when making products. Overall very happy with the purchase, price point, and company as a whole.

Excellent vegan boots
I am so happy I got these! They are so cute with the purple details. They are comfortable and have great arch support. My feet stayed warm and dry but they are still light weight enough to dance the night away. Totally recommend!

Happy feet!
It's difficult for me to find shoes that fit me well, especially with needing a wider toe box, so I feel compelled to leave a review. My last pair of hiking boots were way too tight in the toe area so I decided to try out Keens. I tried these in both size 8 regular and 8 wide and the 8 regular actually felt more comfortable and roomy through a blind study, go figure! These are very comfortable and roomy and I've walked in them quite a bit through varied terrain, no need to break them in. Live up to being waterproof as well thus far.

Update: took forever to break in
I have had them for a couple weeks and walked about 10 miles in them trying to break them in and get used to them. 1st issue: the toe box is actually not particularly wide. Coming from a pair of Altra hiking shoes, my feet definitely feel cramped. But I was also spoiled with that toe box, so I was willing to overlook that. It's definitely wider than a pair of Merrells. 2nd issue: The right boot has started making a crinkling sound, like the glue is dried out and bad. 3rd issue: The left boot has a weird seam right above the pinky toe that is rough and creates blisters. This is not in the right boot. The right boot feels awesome, just makes a weird sound. For the money, I would have liked a sturdy pair of boots that didn't cause blisters. I think Keen needs to tighten down their manufacturing. The fact that two boots in the same pair to have two very different problems, is concerning.I have a hiking trip coming up that I don't have time to break in a new pair for, So I'm going to wrap my foot, bring some extra glue, and my old Altras for backups. Fingers crossed these hold up in the New Hampshire white mountains.**UPDATE** I took these boots with me to climb Mt. Washington. I wore them as much as possible in the days leading up to the hike. After about 15 miles of wear, they FINALLY were broken in. It was like a switch flipped and they're super comfortable hiking boots now. The weird seam is no longer poking out, and the toe boxes loosened up. They served me quite well on Mt Washington. The soles were super grippy and worked well on wet and slushy rock. When we got into the compacted ice, i added Microspikes and the boots felt very stable with those on as well. I've had hiking boots where spikes felt weird, but felt fine on these. Updating to 4 stars, because I'm still not totally sure about the glue on the one boot. I took it to a bootery and they said it was fine, but without removing the sole they couldn't be 100% sure.I recommend these IF you have the time to break them in THOROUGHLY before your adventure.

Perfect for my wide feet
I purchased these shoes thinking that they would probably not be wide enough for my feet, but they are perfect. When I buy shoes that are not wide enough, they may not hurt my feet while I'm wearing them, but I wake up in the middle of the night with terrible foot cramps. I wore these shoes for 8 hours the first day and had no foot cramps whatsoever that night. I'm just thrilled because I usually have to throw away shoes that don't fit since I have to wear them to know if they are good for me or not.

Comfortable Right out of the Box
Fit well, and comfortable. Good weight for my needs. Not heavy and clunky looking like some other hiking boots. Have worn them several times and no issues with laces coming undone as mentioned in some other reviews. So far so good!

Keen Hiking Boot
These boots are extremely comfortable, true to size, and have ample width . They stride like a sneaker but still feel very solid.

Fit and Quality has gone down
Got these to replace an earlier model I loved that has lasted me quite a few years of continuous wear. The uppers are still good, but the soles are worn down to nothing. The description for this shoe says “leather uppers”. I’m not positive but it seems that part of the upper is leather and part is some type of plastic/synthetic. I don’t like the look of it either way. It looks “cheap”, not “quality”. I can see various areas on the shoes where glue has oozed out between sections, another thing that makes them look cheap and doesn’t give me confidence the shoes will hold up as well as my older Keens. Also, the tall part of the boot that goes above the ankle is a good 1/2” shorter than my older Keens and when I walk the top of the boot pokes the front of my leg uncomfortably. The fit is also different in that the heel slips considerably. Additional things that speak to lower quality: The leather / material on the top of the toe area is warped and looks funky. Looks like fake leather or synthetic. And lastly, the shoe laces are a type of weave that immediately unties itself – and they are a good 10-12 inches too short. I can barely tie a bow. I’m returning them and looking elsewhere for another brand.

Great hiking boot
Lightweight but sturdy. Provide great ankle support and arch support. I have flat feet and the insole provided is very comfortable. Fits perfectly as an 8 wide while wearing cushioned hiking socks.
