Worked great on my 1998 merc 150
This project worked great on my 1998 mercury 150 and saved me a bunch of money. Mercury wants over $200 each for these. 👍🏻👍🏻

low cost, but....
I installed these on a Mercury V150 2.0L outboard. When I checked for spark on all 6 cylinders, I found weak or missing spark on one of the spark plugs. I reinstalled the old switch boxes (which were in working condition) and found that I had good spark on all 6 cylinders. This leaves me questioning the quality of this product.Customer service is good. They offered a replacement or refund.

Closely matches the OEM circuit.
There are several of these on the market and this one closely matched the OEM CDI. It might have a slightly different trigger threshold but timing did not change by more than 1 or 2 degrees (trim with screw on motor).I put this one on the bench with a scope and scoped it on the motor and it operates the same as the OEM. Trigger inputs has diode shorting negative side to ground which transformers the trigger to a 0-8v positive pulse. The output connects the +300V charged capacitor to the coil to spark. It does not charge the capacitor thru the coil like some of the others after market CDIs did (they may work but it is different from Mercury).

Mercury factory replacement.
Good price. Used on 1984 mercury outboard 150 xr2. Replaced both originals as a precaution. Used extreme caution when changing wiring from old to new. Be sure to disconnect battery first. Fired up and ran great, after I put gas in it . Also replaced rectifier as a precaution. Unit was barely running. I think I lost a bank of cylinders. Found some bare and melted wires on inspection going to the switch boxes. Also determined that the trigger went bad and the ideal speed control wire melted. Unit runs great now even after 30 years.
