There are many minor disasters that can befall a BBQ chef. You may drop the food on the ground; you may not have enough food (the reason garnishes were invented); you may wake up to the fact that the friends you invited are never in a million years going to get on with the people your partner invited (this is partly why alcohol was invented); you may even run out of beer (actually – that is a category 1 disaster and cannot be dealt with here). MAN LAW understands – which is why they’ve come up with an entire range of manly BBQ products to avert minor and more major disasters – although they don’t order beer for you. The Instant Read Thermometer is one of them. It’s general purpose so it can check fridge temperature as well as meat and any other cooking temperature. It has a temperature range from 0 F – 220 F; the probe is made from tough stainless steel; it’s dishwasher safe and it has a large glow-in-the-dark dial for easy reading. So while MAN LAW can’t help with your partner’s choice of friends or your optimistic view of your friends’ beer-consuming capacity, they can make sure that any minor disasters that befall you are not BBQ based. Good Fire, Good Beer, Good Tools.

Doesn't work
I don't know if mine is broken or what, but whenever I use this thermometer it has an insanely difficult time getting past 140 degrees on the readout. I bought this to use with chicken to prevent having to cut in to every piece to see if they are cooked through. I cook chicken often and it gets to be a pain after a while. But I have actually burned/overcooked my chicken because of this thing. I have only ever gotten this thing to reach the 165 degree mark ONCE, and that was after I left the chicken in the crock pot for way longer than it needed to be in there. And another time cooking chicken on the Foreman grill, the chicken almost came out completely black because the thermometer kept reading a low temperature. Even when I took the chicken off and cut through it, saw that it was completely white inside and definitely done, the thermometer still read something like 145 degrees. I don't know if it's the needle on the gauge that's broken, or the entire thermometer itself, but I've stopped using it. If I get another instant read thermometer, I'm going for a digital one.BOTTOM LINE: Spend a little bit more money and get a thermometer that actually works.

Completely upped my bbq game
I'm kicking myself for not buying this sooner. Great device, inexpensive, and will drastically improve the quality of your bbq.

Works great for a motorcycle air temp gauge
Purchased this to attach to my KLR 650 to use as an air temperature gauge while riding. Easy to read while riding and has a wider temperature range than most air temp gauges designed for motorcycle use. I can quickly remove it by sliding it out of the included sheath when parked.
