Breach to bore cleaning easier than with a traditional rod.
All of us know the "best" way to clean a barrel is one direction only in order to protect the muzzle crown. We don't like to admit it, but nobody takes the bore brush off the cleaning rod, removes the rod, and then re-installs the brush just to make sure we push the brush in a breach to bore direction only, never pulling it back up the barrel. Takes too long, we never do this. With this setup, you can always clean breach to bore / one direction only. No handle, just pull all the way through. Very fast and easy. The short 8" is great for smaller removable semi-auto pistol length barrels. I like how easy it is to drop into the breach end and always clean using passes from breach to bore, easy to repeat several passes quickly. Drop it in pull it through, repeat; very quick and easy. I buy one for the bore patch and one for the bore brush for each caliber and leave them set up so no more pricked fingers changing from bronze brushes to patch jags. I then use a wrench to tighten slightly to avoid the annoying loosening that occurs when only hand tightening. I use the cheaper round or square "normal" patches for the initial bore wetting/mopping and the Otis for the final cleaning passes.Another bonus is that by bore brushing in one direction only, the bristle splatter is in one direction only so the mess is easy to control. Just pull the cable downward and the splatter is into a rag or paper towel on the table. By not pulling the cleaning rod back up the barrel you eliminate the splatter that is usually directed back at your face. Huge plus.
