This is a very simple and apparently rugged sighting level. This same instrument appears to be sold under multiple brand names, some with silkscreened brand names on the body. This one is yellow and unadorned with brand name on the tube or the padded, protective case with belt loop.If you're not familiar with a sighting level, it's a low-magnification telescope with a bubble level occupying most of the left half of the visual field. To make the bubble level visible in the field of view, there's a 45-degree angle mirror inside. If you get the bubble centered, the center line indicates what, in the field of view, is at the same elevation as your eye. Simple stuff that you'll master in just a few minutes.One tip: The illumination of the bubble level is provided by light that gets through the oval shaped hole on the top of the case, so keep your fingers clear of the hole while using the hand sight level. Something like tissue paper over the oval hole works to create an nice, even, diffuse illumination without unwanted reflections, even allowing you to use a flashlight at the hole for good illumination in twilight conditions.If the bubble level is properly alighned during manufacturing, there's not much to go wrong with this one of these. I've not checked the calibration at a long distance, but it appears to be spot-on over the shorter distances I've checked.Price-wise, this is competitive at $56, though there is a click-to-activate discount of 6% which brings the price down to about $52.50. That's a good deal and I'm happy to recommend this.

I like using eye level. Makes it easier and faster to get my job done.

This is a really well made handy quick surveying level for someone who may not have or want to buy surveying equipment for leveling or putting in a slope in their landscaping project etc.I have been playing around with it, using it to judge height and distance of objects as well as finding a general slope and it seems to work really well and is really a handy way to accomplish these things where it might otherwise be extremely difficult.I can't wait to get into a brand new full-on project where I can put this to use and use it to establish the grade of a driveway or something.Like this a lot.
