Rehabilitation Advantage 9 Inch Wheelchair Brake Handle Extensions – Pair

We got this for my dad's wheelchair, who after a recent serious illness was having difficulty putting on the breaks of the wheelchair. They were recommended by his physical therapist. These extensions were easy to install and allowed him to quickly put the break on despite his weakness. Safety first!

I typically don’t write reviews but this set of break handles has been so helpful. The leverage created makes breaking so easy my dad can put his own breaks on. The 9” handle is great BUT it’s too long to lock the breaks when my dad is parked in front of his desk or the dinner table. My first thought was bigger is better but I purchased the 6” set to see if it’s the best of all worlds. I anticipate it will be. Keep this in mind when purchasing.

I had a hard time breaking and unbraking my wheelchair. These were great!! They made it easy to lock and unlock my brakes! Highly recommended!!

My grampa specifically requested these. He has an Invicare 9000 SL. Some of the residents at his assisted living have these handles, and he saw how it helped them. Installation is really easy. All you do is pull off the little black topper from the brake handle, and put these over it. It took longer to open the package than it did to install them. At first, one of the handles fit was jiggly and loose. But he was able to pound it into place with his hand, and it went into place. The doors and hallways at his assisted living home are wide, so he has no problems maneuvering through them. Update: He decided they were too long. He wasn’t able to park his chair as much under the diner table as he would prefer. So I’ve ordered him the 6 inch handle size.

Great. We would buy again and recommend others to purchase. Beyond pleased with this purchase.

Worked but too long

Mom could not lock or unlock her wheelchair, something critical to her being to safely get in and out of it.She simply did not have the strength, and she has serious arthritis in her hands.These work GREAT!They were easy to put on, the big soft ball-shaped handle is easy on her hands, and the added length gives the leverage needed so she can now easily work the wheel locks.I highly recommend these if you are a senior or know one who is in a similar situation.

Perfect item for a wheelchair, that was difficult to disengage the brakes Especially when you have arthritis Works like a charm!

Really disconcerting when one receives a product with multiple stickers on it, saying there is a carcinogenic danger with this product and one has no idea what it refers to, nor can contact the seller to find out. Is it real? and if not, why is there 2 of these warnings?? Scared to use it now.
