Easy to use
Previous customer complained that the cap is difficult to remove without tools. But - you don't remove it! If you read the instructions, you will see that you are advised to make a small hole in the cap, leaving it where it is. Then it won't run out all through your fingers, no need to make it thicker. So far it seems to work. Will report back after using it for a little longer.

The bottle and consistency not great
Ok first good points: the shampoo works very well. I love the idea of coal tar and salicylic acid combo. It is really effective. The smell is also ok. It smells more of salicylic acid than coal tarNow bad points. The shampoo is like water. Literally. Very difficult to apply as it just runs in between the fingers. And you waste a lot of it down the drain. The bottle is also not great. It comes with a silicone cap which is impossible to remove without tools. Good luck doing it in a shower with wet hands. Once you remove the cap you are left with a huge opening. And watery shampoo.Overall: 5/5 for shampoo effectiveness1/5 for how watery it is2/5 for the bottle. Please make the shampoo thicker and improve the bottle you will get 5/5.

Great but runny
This can burn if your scalp is inflamed but really helps to get it to stop itching and bleeding. Only thing is it is very runny so I find it better to pour onto my scalp direct rather than into my hands like i would with other shampoo.

Thin, harsh but effective, contains parabens
I ordered this shampoo because I have an itchy scalp, although fortunately for me I don't have dandruff. For context I have long, thick, fine hair that can be quite dry, and a somewhat sensitive scalp. I use coal-tar shampoos intermittently: in my experience they can be a bit harsh for using too frequently. This shampoo comes with a plastic stopper seal under the lid. The instructions say to pierce this stopper to dispense the contents, but I didn't do that. Instead I levered the stopper out altogether - a knife under the edge between stopper and bottleneck nade that relatively easy. Once open, the shampoo has a strong petrol-y smell, more like petrol than the coal-tar scent of something like Polytar shampoo. It's also very thin (low viscosity). In use: I applied the shampoo to wet hair, which because it's so watery takes a bit of care. It lathered up well with a bit more effort than some shampoos. I found it quite harsh and could feel it stripping the oils from my hair and scalp as much or more than a clarifying shampoo does. For the purpose of testing I didn't use any conditioner or rinse, and this shampoo left my hair very clean, with no trace of oil, but flyaway and lacking shine. I tried again a couple of days later but this time with a known conditioner, and again it cleaned the heair very thoroughly, and the conditioner helped make the hair smoother and shiny. My scalp itchiness was somewhat reduced, but to be honest I found this one less effective in itch-reduction than Polytar. The other issue I have with this shampoo is that ir contains parabens, preservatives commonly used in cosmetics (see picture for ingredients). Parabens have been shown to mimic estrogen, and although there is debate about how harmful that may be, I prefer to err on the side of caution and avoid them. Their presence in products like this also reduces my confidence in the product, because it shows that the manufacturers do not share my caution. So I will not be continuing to use this shampoo and would not buy again.I've given this shampoo three stars because it does what it claims and may be OK for others who don't share my concerns about the ingredients, but I would not recommend.

Coal Tar and Salicylic Acid Shampoo
This coal tar and salicylic acid shampoo is great for treating dandruff and a dry flaky scalp. It is a lot thinner than regular shampoo so you need to be careful when poaring it out, as I was expecting something more "gloopy" and managed to empty more than intended into my hand. It does lather up but not as much as normal shampoo and leaves your scalp feeling nice and clean, and more importantly, flake free. It is quite a bit more expensive than "head and shoulders" at currently £12.80 for 200ml, but I think it does a better job of treating your dandruff.

Clean Scalp
The media could not be loaded. I was slightly dubious about this shampoo after reading the reviews but I think this is a really good product. The shampoo smells like coal tar and reminds me of my childhood bathroom. The shampoo is thin BUT it works really well. You do need to double shampoo to get the full effects and lather. On the second shampoo, the lather came up thick and rich and my hair was squeaky clean after rinsing. It rinsed out of my hair easily and after drying my hair and doing my usual styling routine, it looks clean and fresh. My scalp is less irritated since I started using this shampoo and I’ve noticed my hair has less dandruff because of it. There were no tingles like you feel with some other brands of anti dandruff shampoo, which I didn’t mind but this shampoo isn’t chemical like those other brands. I love how it’s fragrance free, sulphate and paraben free too!

Nice shampoo, will see if it works over time
I ordered this for my teenage son who has an awful scabby scalp - he usually uses other branded therapeutic shampoo. He said that it was easy to use the shampoo - I had noted other reviews that said to poke a hole in the inner lid of the bottle. I’m not sure how transportable the bottle is now for travelling. The smell is fairly subtle, a medicinal smell. My son’s hair looks lovely and clean and he is happy to use this regularly. Recommended.
