Prohoe Field Hoes - 5 +" wide blade

Superior Tool
A really good tool. I got serious about my vegetable garden this year and found this "weapon." The slight curvature and thickness of the blade means this bites straight into the soil. That it is also sharp helps, too. Our part of Texas, as most of the state, has been blessed with an extraordinary amount of rainfall this year. I think May had five official days with no rain. In spite of this, my garden is cleanest ever. Weeds and pesky bermuda grass don't have a chance. In spite of its price I consider this to have been a really good buy. (Demand seems to have outpaced supply and prices are significantly higher as of this writing, however.) Mine has a correctly grained, stout wooden handle. The only part is figuring the right one to buy. This works surprisingly well for delicate work--I just let the mass of the hoe do the work. I did break down and buy one of the "skinny" versions (the 575G) after satisfying myself this was as good as my first impression led me to believe.May be that the hardest part is deciding which model best suits your needs.I am not aware of any hoe, certainly any that I have owned that prepared me for how superior is the performance of this gem. I'm an old guy and this is a much better tool than the ones I remember as a kid. Don't underestimate how much the rigidity of the blade counts for. Straight bladed hoes flex just a bit and cause your stroke to veer away from the straight. This one just doesn't do that. It won't shirk cutting weedy sprouts, either. Lots of neglected areas have been worked over since I bought this! Fortunately, to this point in life, I have never shown symptoms of exposure to poison ivy. Recognizing that others may not be so fortunate, I have torn up a lot of vines since buying this.

this is a great tool that does what it is supposed to
I can only echo the positive reviews by others, this is a great tool that does what it is supposed to. I purchased this hoe because I needed to finish clearing roots from an older planting of oleanders and the miserably cheap hoes from the big box stores were not up to that task. This made quick work of the job, chopped right through 1" thick roots in no time. I was impressed with how well the edge of the hoe held up to our abrasive sandy Florida "soil" where the oleanders were planted. It's well balanced and well made.

Well made!!! Not nearly as heavy as I would like or would have expected for something touted as a sod buster, and the blade is a little short for all that too. Probably will work well for weeding between the rows.

Versatile Hoe
If you're looking for a hoe that can be versatile, you can't do better than this. The narrowness of this model allows working around existing plants, vegetables and anything in the way. The finesse of this thing is amazing given the sturdiness of the metal used. The long handle makes using it a breeze since it balances out the tool nicely. If a person wanted just to clear ground, the 7" would be the ticket. I just wanted something that could do that and still be used in the garden. This the second Prohoe tool I have and they don't disappoint.

I almost never write reviews but we are so happy with this hoe
I almost never write reviews but we are so happy with this hoe! We live in an area with rocky, clay soil and this hoe worked great for breaking up the soil, including a very dense layer of weeds on top. It's very sturdy and, unlike so many of the hoes we purchased in the past, hasn't broken. The metal end has a really nice weight to it which makes hoeing easier. While it's a bit more expensive than other hoes I feel that it was entirely worth the money we spent on it.

Excellent purchase
I ordered the Prohoe after looking at quality hoes available in garden and home improvement stores in my area.I wanted a hoe with a sharp blade - and all I found were thick blades that wouldn't do the work I wanted to do with a hoe.My hoe arrived within three days of order (I believe 2, but don't recall exactly), well packaged and exactly as I anticipated. It's a great hoe, with a blade that is sharp, and at 5", wide enough to do the job. Now I'm thinking I'd like to have the cultivator in the same line. Well done.

One of the best yard tools I've ever found
One of the best yard tools I've ever found. The quality is excellent, including the steel's ability to hold a sharp edge after some intense use. Only drawback: It arrived well packed, but the packing was those huge peanut-like worms.I highly recommend this for serious hoeing up to 1/2' woody growths... its almost like an axe!If in doubt, buy it. Worth the money!
