Police Exam Prep 7th Edition: 4 Practice Tests + Proven Strategies (Kaplan Test Prep)

Great shape. Exactly what I needed

I needed serious help with the written portion for police exam. The format and questions were spot on. They give such a great variety, from math to situational questions and everything in between. I was rusty and not great at the written portion but with this book I improved substantially. I never passed but now i'm scoring in the 90's. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to really improve. I would say you get what you put in, if your looking to do well put the work and time in to read this book completely. If your looking for a one day study book this isn't for you, there is so much to learn and brush up on. I gave myself a solid two months and i'm so happy i did. I looked at a lot of books out there and researched a lot but none compared to this one. THIS IS THE ONE! Trust me, good luck!

So overall it is a great book, it has a lot of which was on the police exam but I don’t know if it was this book alone that allowed me to get an 80 on it with less than a month to study.I, on a whim, decided to take the police exam when there was less than 4 weeks to prepare for it. I purchased this book, my dad purchased a much more expensive package of police examination preparation for me. I used both, I studied from both. (There were similarities) I got 100s on most of the exams on this book. The other books were harder. I got an 80. I would say don’t count on this book alone. Also start preparing for the exam sooner if you want a high grade!

To be honest this was pretty good. However, a lot of what showed up on my test wasn't really in here. Like the math and vocabulary stuff wasn't in the NYPD exam that I took. It was the pictures that were and what you'd remember from them. The front and back of buildings. Directions on a map. If a report or sentence was written properly. Based off a set of rules or steps what would you do after one was listed in a scenario. Also chronological order of events in a scenario that occurred. You have to put them in order when when things happened so it makes sense. It was so strange. I give this a 4 or 5 star review because I felt over prepared in some ways. But I focused on topics that weren't there. So I figure I list what was focused for me so it could help someone. Pay attention to pictures and what a question is asking you. Like what's the best answer, least likely, most likely or wouldn't be sort of questions. Also take your time. Hope for the best. I'm writing this review after I took my exam so I wouldn't forget.

Easy read.

My county changed their test format. No more memorization, instead they what is in my opinion a very subjective section not covered in this book. But for $12 it worked for the grammatical portion or the exam

This book is mostly geared towards American police training, however I used it for the Canadian OCAP test and the exam questions were similar to it. KEY word similar!
