Great nostalgic gift for my dad
This was a great gift for my dad for Christmas. The compass works well and is a nice looking product, even better my dad who is in his 70s was a Boy Scout and seeing the inscription and the compass brought back lots of great memories for him. It was fun to hear some stories. He’d never told us before about his adventures, camping and going on trips with the Boy Scouts when he was a child.

Better quality than other versions
I am very pleased with the quality and size. I ordered a different one first and it was too big and difficult to open. I was so glad that this one was what I wanted and arrived before Christmas.

the edge is how dark the face was
the tarnish on my compass was dark black on the out side and inside the lid.i polished it for ten minuets with a rotary tool and mothers shine now it looks close to the pictures.it points norththe cardinal direction plat under the needle has a nice finish and clear markings

Badly tarnished, can barely read inscriptions.
The tarnish is so bad you can barely read any of the inscriptions. Could they not polish these before they are sold?

Looks good...
...but doesn't work. Liked the look of being old but didn't expect it to actually be so badly tarnished with a needlethat doesn't move. Useless. Good thing was I opened it up and checked it out before I gave it as a gift. Looks and feel like good quality and weight....but now I'll have to quickly find a new one to give.
