Great spin boards!
These are sturdy and smooth! I’m a PT. I got two and have been using them for standing hip mobility and stability exercises. Works for active hip external and internal rotation in weight bearing. Also works to challenge any single leg activity.

spins so fast, it is hard to use
I felt like I would fall down because it spins so fast. I recommend holding on to a bar or fellow dancer while using.

This is not a toy. Children should have a spotter.
I am clearly not the demographic for the ARTAN BALLET TURNING SPINNER BOARD. In all fairness, the product page says this is intended for “Dancers, Figure Skaters, and Gymnasts”. I am none of those things. I got this because I thought it might help strengthen an ankle that I broke over a year ago. I also was hoping it would improve my balance. Here is what I’ve learned:It is very small, especially for my big feet.It is only for adults already on pointe. Your toes are the only thing that will fit on here, if you are already an adult. It would be most effective for children, who are learning to pirouette, and serious about their sport. In my opinion, This is not for anyone inexperienced, who does not have a spotter. If I hold on to something and pivot, it is helpful in strengthening my ankle. There are more effective devices, that work better than this, for my purpose.Any movement on it tends to make me feel car sick and dizzy. (I am susceptible to motion sickness, though.)It is well made, and not meant as a toy.

A hundred times more effective than a balance board!!!
Great training disc for both my daughters to practice their pirouettes, form, spotting and to work on their balance. This Balance Disc far better than the balance board they had been using. The balance board is an elongated, and curved rectangle shaped piece of wood, which can easily tilt to the front or back depending on the angle of the dancer in relation to the board (their 'line' or balance..). However, a balance board is very unforgiving if you lean into its sides. To put it another way...it's like standing on a very short, curved snow ski. The principle to making a turn on a snow ski is to lean into the inside (or outside..) edge. Now imagine you are spinning on that ski, then lean slightly into its edge. Yeah...you abruptly stop and are toppled over onto the floor! This exact same principle applies on a balance board. As I stated above, this balance disc is SOO much easier to use and is far more forgiving! That's NOT to say you still won't fall over! BUT we learned that the chances of RECOVERY during the spin on the balance disc, are far greater than on a board. This means they don't topple to the ground when practicing on the disc, NEARLY as much as they were on the board. Which has been very encouraging to them driving them to keep trying again... and again...and again! (with big cheesy grins on their face I might add...). They aren't perfect... yet...but, they were never going to be using the balance board. This disc is a hundred times better! And WAY more effective! The disc is sturdy, light weight and well made. It easily fits in their dance bag or pack pack. My youngest daughter is 10 and my oldest daughter is 17 and both of them have no problems at all using the disc. Now...Obviously, they both have had years of dance, and gymnastics training. So, if you are buying this for a beginner, I would advise you to make sure they are supervised by their dance or gymnastics instructor for first time use...OR simply ask them if they believe this would be a useful tool for your son or daughter. They may not quite be ready for it and may still have some fundamentals or technique to work on. But they would be a great resource to turn to. Besides that, this is a great tool, far more effective than the balance board, and I would highly recommend this to any dancer looking to achieve better overall turns and spins. Go! Fight! Win!
