Yeah, it has a chemical smell when you unwrap it. It's LEATHER....leather is tanned, that process is smelly. The bag has been wrapped in plastic wrap and has been sitting in a warehouse since it was assembled......That said....This is an awesome bag! It's real leather, not that fake pleather....One little funny with the bag I received....One shoulder strap is thicker than the other. That doesn't matter nor bug me. It simply tells me that the straps came from different pieces of leather.I'm not a small guy. 5'11 360 lbs. I'm a delivery driver and have two overnight routes per week. Thus, two hotel stays per week. The bag is perfect for a days change of work clothes. My toiletry bag, shave kit, medications, phone charger, my collapsible silicone teapot, a Tupperware container of teas, a bottle of honey, the book I'm reading that week, a book light and a few other daily use items. TMI? Nah, just trying to give perspective on what it holds.The chemical smell really dissipated after 2 days. Just let it air out. If it really bugs you, try putting the bag into a large trash bag with some charcoal brickettes and tie the bag for a few days. The charcoal will absorb the smell. Just be careful not to let the charcoal stain your beautiful new bag.The front desk guy that I see every Thursday even commented on my new bag yesterday lol. Seriously. For the last 8 years I've used a backpack with an internal frame. It did the trick but was a lot heavier than this duffle.The hardware is sturdy, not flimsy at all. Some reviewers complained about the zipper. If it gets " sticky" simply rub some ivory soap along the zipper. That'll have it working perfectly. The zipper.didn't seem flimsy to me, it's a nylon type material, not metal.I absolutely love it. The leather even matches my messenger bag I use for my paperwork.

I love this bag! I’ve taken it on 4 trips now and I still love it! Durable and functional but the styling is what turns heads! Very nice.

I ordered this bag because I really needed a new duffle, I wanted leather, and the price on this one was amazing (less than $100). I read the various review and decided to take a chance.First, this bag is plenty big. The end compartments expand or contract with a cool zip around design. Expanded, I can easily stuff a pair of shoes in each end. The side and end pockets expand, too, up to an inch or two of extra depth. The main compartment is huge! In fact, to help shape it after shipping, I put the shipping box in the main compartment! This thing can handle my travel needs with ease!The stitching and leather quality are simply amazing at this price point! The workmanship looks great. The lining is a heavy canvas material that reminded me of a (cherished) WWII vintage flight bag I used in high school and college -- tough and durable. Unless I'm missing a detail -- and I'm not -- this bag will last a long time. This is a heavy duty bag, make no mistake.Finally, as a lot of reviewers mention, there is an odor. I'm guessing, based on the care card that was in the bag, that the odor is the "veg olive oil" used for tanning. It will dissipate soon enough. (My wife suggested dropping a few dryer sheets in the various compartments, so we'll see. But really, a good airing for a few days is all it needs. I packed mine with newspaper, and that old trick really helps.) Yes, some of the hardware has sticky stuff on it, but it's nothing that a little 409 or saddle soap won't clean up. Don't let the "it smells" review set you off, just open it up and let it air out. Wash the hardware if you need to. You'll be saving a lot of money!

I received this bag (32 inch) today and I can't express enough how satisfied I am with this bag. I love the special note and care instructions that you can clearly tell that this company is sincere in the products they produce. Goat leather is some of the best leather you can buy today. I am still amazed that I was able to purchase this bag at the price I did. I have never seen other bags made of this quality come anywhere close to the price of this bag. They are way more, half the size and don't look or feel as good as this one does. I went with the 32 inch bag. I travel every week with clothes for 3-4 nights, toiletries, CPAP machine, sometimes a pair of shoes, charger cables, boot polish and brush and I still have room to add more stuff. I'm about 6 ft tall 225 lbs just to give you an idea of size of bag compared to your size. It feels/fits perfect for me and would work on a plane as the perfect carry on bag. I would give 10 stars if I could! Plus... y'all get this, 20% of the proceeds go to a charity for an orphanage. How cool is that!? I will also mention this. I don't do reviews. I know I should and I will work on getting better at this. But this bag was so spot on for what I have been looking for that I Just had to get in here and write my first review! Bag is far bigger than anticipated and this was a pleasant revelation. Leather is beautiful and rich in color and the straps are durable. There is plenty of room to pack whatever one might need for a couple of weeks. Well crafted and high quality at an incredible price. Leather care instructions included. Excellent item I am extremely pleased with. Packaged and shipped with care.

Travelling to the U.K. soon, so I bought this. I am very happy with my purchase. It is extremely well made and represents good value for the amount I paid. it came with a friendly note and care information. I was almost put off by some of the reviews which complained about the new leather odour. All new things smell a bit, even a new car. New car smell is nice, this smells of new leather that has been treated. Air it out for a day or two and you will have something that will last you for many decades. That is more than can be said for many other things nowadays. I Would recommend it to anyone who wants a quality carry-on bag.

the bag itself is attractive, but we could not get the awful aroma out of it despite days airing outside to days of activated charcoal bags in it...nothing would remove the terrible aroma. we had to return it.

Es más grande de lo esperado. Rebasa las especificaciones para equipaje de mano. Las correas tiene una calidad baja y difiere del producto general.El olor confirma su origen animal.
