Excellent design, makes it easy to haul your bikes
We've been using this bike rack for a few months now and are very pleased with how easy it is to get the bikes on and off. My husband and I like to mountain bike. We can load our bikes and be ready to go in less than 5 minutes. I like that the bikes are separated from each other, though having a dropper seat post on my bike does help keep my seat from bumping into the handlebars of my husband's bike. I've pretty much been leaving the rack on the car all the time. It's a little bit of a bother having the rack on while loading groceries into the back of the minivan, but easier than taking the rack on and off each time. My only disappointment is that when the bikes are loaded, we cannot open the back liftgate door of our 2004 Toyota Sienna all the way, even with the rack tilted down. At least with this system, it's not hard to take the bikes off if we really need full access to the back of the van. Now that we don't have to deal with trying to lift a heavy bike and thread the bike frame onto bike rack posts and we don't have to worry about putting muddy bikes in the back of the van, we can go biking more often!

Very responsive company
I bought a Saris Superclamp Ex 2 Bike Hitch Car Rack to haul my 2 electric bikes. My purchase was in November of 2022. I used the rack for the first extended trip in April, 2023. On the interstate, with the bikes loaded, the rack tipped back (as if to allow me to open the back hatch on my SUV). It locked back into place but it happened a second time. After that I strapped it to the roof rack to avoid a 3rd time. When we got home, and I have to repeat that this was 6 months after purchasing the rack, I called Saris. The agent immediately said, “That shouldn’t happen and I’m going to send you a replacement.” No questions. No hassle. No delay. 2 days later I received and used the replacement and it works just like it is supposed to. And this company is one of the best I have dealt; immediate positive action to solve the customer’s problem. What more could I ask!!!

Warning if you don't get the right pieces
Not sure how many starts to give it. I guess it will work well if I ever get the right pieces, but: The rack comes with four tire holders, which are supposed to be paired, two "As" and two "Bs." Mine came with three As and one B. I didn't think it would matter that much, but it does. The ones on the back of the rack (see photo) are properly paired; the ones near the vehicle are not. They are held in place by tightening a knob of sorts, but it is not enough. The rocking motion of the bike pushed the inner left-hand holder (the one now held on by bungies) right off the rack while the car was moving. Both wheels were ruined, the front from dragging and the rear from being twisted out-of-round. Repairs cost $230.As soon as I assembled the rack I noticed the problem. A call to the support line was not picked up, and the message I left was not returned. A subsequent email got a polite response in about a day, apologizing for the problem and saying I should get the correct piece in 5-7 days. That was over two weeks ago. A follow up email has so far gotten no response. The product would clearly warrant more stars if the right parts had come. However, I wanted to warn those who buy this in case you have the same problem I did. The knobs have been tightened with pliers and the holder tied on, but I still hold my breath when I use it.

Wheel tray broke on first use... but I will give it one more try
So after weeks of research and debate between Saris Superclamp, Thule pro 2 and Yakima DR, I ended up picking Saris for its price and good reviews. Here is the break down:Cons:- my wheel tray broke off during first use. Happened when I tried to push down the wheel clamp for one extra click... see picsAmazon couldn't do anything so I turned to Saris. They promptly sent a replacement and told me the issue could be that my order was opened box item. Anyways, I didn't want to pack up everything or pay more for other racks so I will give it one more try.- hitch locking pin reqs wrench or it will wobblelike crazy- locking cables are short so it might not fit some bikesPros:- Price, you can find one under $400. Ducks recently sold them for $350- Easy to install and store- lightweight- bottle opener- tilting mechanism for cargo door

Nice Rack for carrying bikes. Don't park anywhere though - One BIG star off for no real ability to lock bikes up securely.
This is a nice and reasonably heavy duty bike rack that is easy to use, holds the bicycles firmly and doesn't rub on the bike frame. I give it 4 stars for all that. As a minor comment, I would have preferred the choice of a real 2" hitch rather than a 1 1/4" bar with an aluminum sleeve that makes it fit a 2" hitch receiver as I think I would get less wobble while driving. No stars off for this though - I get that it makes it more versatile and a little lighter. Now - for a MAJOR gripe and one star off. Pregripe note - .. Important ... please firmly get that as a way to carry a bike - I like it.Now for one star off. My major complaint is the laughable pretense that this thing provides any security at all with its cheap locks and easy disassembly. Honestly, Saris - what a design flaw. You went to the trouble of providing reasonably thick integral security cables and a nice design, however they plug into this flimsy lock you could drill out with a battery driven drill/driver in 5 seconds. Same for the lock on the hitch pin. More egregious from a security standpoint is that the receiver assembly attaches to the rack itself with two easily accessible allen bolts which don't lock. With two guys, an electric drill/socket driver, an allen wrench and little practice, you could remove the rack with essentially no noise in under 10 seconds, throw the bikes, still in the rack, in the back of a pickup and be gone in under 30 seconds. My suggestion to buyers is that if you are riding anything better than a Walmart special, go get a 10 foot long quality cable motorcycle lock (chain would be better) and run it through one of the holes on your hitch where the safety chain would typically go and use that to secure the bikes. Not perfect but defeating it is tougher/noisier/more visible.

Great rack...holds two bikes securely, easy to load/unload, and tilts away from the hatch!
I never liked the idea of roof racks (one slip and you've done some serious damage to your paint), and trunk racks got annoying to constantly take off/put on and they blocked access to the trunk when in use. This rack solved all those problems. It's easy to load/unload, holds two full-size mountain bikes with ease, and can tilt away from the hatch/trunk to allow access even with the bikes loaded. It has two built-in cable locks that will not deter a thief with a grinder, but they will keep your bike from getting stolen while you pop into the coffee shop for 5 minutes. It also comes with a lock to secure it to your hitch, which is a nice touch.I had a small issue with the arms, called Saris and they immediately shipped me a new part. I've had this rack for almost 4 years and still loving it!

Awesome bike rack
The rack is awesome though the integrated cable lock isn’t long enough to secure both wheels on two bikes. An additional lock is required

Works for my e bikes
Construction seems very good, build in locks we a nice feature. I am carrying two eBikes seats a batteries removed, Both bikes approx. 100 pounds heavy rack rocks quite a bit on rough roads, and care must be taken in uneven roads, speed bumps and curds with the heavy bikes. Found that my kick stand was getting in the way of the rear arm a small adjustment and sorted out. Will be keeping an eye on the wheel cradles for stress once again weight of bikes. Happy over all so far after a recent road trip.
