I, Tina: My Life Story

I purchased this memoir after the news of Tina Turner’s death. This story was so beautifully told. I always knew the surface story of Tina Turner, but this book dives deep into her life, especially the abuse she endured! This book is on my list of the top 10 Black memoirs of all time. I’m so glad she persevered through it all. RIP Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock 💜

What couldn’t Tina Turner do?? This memoir is exceptional!

Fabulous book, just like her! It’s like she is talking to you! Read it in one afternoon and evening; couldn’t put it down.We were so lucky to have had her. There will never be another that is for sure. She lives on in her music and in the memories of us who were lucky to have witnessed her live and in action!!She truly was THE BEST!! Rest in LOVE Tina!

I've always enjoyed the music of Tina Turner and when I had tickets to see the Tina Turner musical, I wanted to know more about her life. For me, most of the time with plays or film adaptations, I like knowing the story so that I pay attention to symbolic events or important turning points. I felt like this small book was honest about Tina Turner's struggles in life but also gave her credit for never giving up and always working hard overcome so many obstacles.
