Amazing value - things to look out for though... possibly.
I have two of these, I have fitted to two different guitars... a 12 string and a 6 that I have in a very odd tuning shall we say! Yes, I was so impressed with the first so I bought another in case they suddenly became unavailable. They do work better with strings that are made of steel, I find - didn't try one on a classical guitar lol. They're not made for that, no. But if you set the amp or recorder appropriately, they would be perfectly fine for a small gig and to get different sounds at home through an fx unit, say. After all, you've got the guitar's natural sound coming through the soundhole anyway. :)BUT I found they are - variable (!) in how they work. I assume this is a defect or something in manufacturing. Namely, the tone pot on one does next to nothing and the other is quite hissy. Although that is if you have you amp cranked to silly levels and want it all to feedback like crazy. I know I could have returned one or both but they are doing what I expected in the first place - amplifiying the sound and having it so I can manipulate it into something quite different. So I gave 4 stars for Sound Quality because they are a bit odd, but as far as i'm concerned they do the job and for what I paid, far better than I may have expected.

Mine was faulty and subsequently returned.
The item appeared to be well made but unfortunately had an intermittent fault (possibly an internal loose connection or capacitor fault). When it worked the sound quality was excellent albeit a little bright. The tone control did not appear to have any effect which is what makes me suspect the capacitor. The signal cut out intermittently. I tried another cable but had the same problem. The unit was clearly not going to be reliable enough to gig with so I returned it for a refund.

Better sound than some more expensive pickups I've used.
I have 7 acoustic guitars with pickups, 3 of them with magnetic pickups, Fishman neo-d, Fishman rare earth and a shadow sh141. This sounds to my old ears (I've been playing about 50 years) as good as the Fishman rare earth single coil. about the same volume level, a bit larger, and a little more treble, but same quality. The pickup is slightly microphonic, and I've ordered another to replace the Shadow pickup on another guitar.By the way I used a Bose S1 for my tests, it's what I use anyway for gigs.Plus side:Great soundQuality buildSlightly microphonic (no bad thing, as it carries the acousticness of the guitar)Bad side:I had to get the battery out using a small screw driver to wedge it out. It will never fall out by itself.(good thing I suppose)I intend to wrap sticky tape around the next battery I put in, to give it a ''tab'' I can use to pull it out.To change the battery you need to carry a cross head screw driver and unscrew the pickup from the guitar. I do anyway in my gig case of leads etc, but does everybody? How long does the battery last? it's an AAA and I'm running it today non-stop so I can get an idea.Bottom line: I like magnetics on acoustic, as there's little chance of feedback, as little to go wrong. This is as good as anything I've ever used.A week later: still a good sounding pickup but the label has fallen off! so now instead of saying YELP in large letters it is just plain black. not a bad thing really. It was fastened with double sided tape, that probably stopped sticking due to the heatwave here in the UK. I still don't know how long the battery lasts, and here's a strange thing - if you put the guitar down and leave it for a while it seems to turn off the pickup until you pickup the guitar again. not a bad thing in case you leave it plugged in by accident as can sometimes happen. By the way, there is a little circuit board built into the output jack, that can be seen if you unscrew it to fit it to the guitar. I expect that's the pre-amp.All in All a good product, and I'm glad I bought a second one for the guitar I take to festivals.
