A must for hiking
Let's be perfectly honest and I think if you ever went camping on a trail hike out you wouldn't want a plastic container to boil water in. I mean it's a no brainer. Im just as satisfied with this one as I was with the one I had when I was a teenager learning how to survive and fun stuff like that. I wouldn't be caught dead in the woods without having a good metal canteen with a cooking cup for water purification purposes and cooking. This is as important as having fire and a way to make shelter. You live longer when you hydrate. Flavor and sturdy. Yes it has a flavor called water and it is very nice after you sweat all day in the hot sun stumbling through the woods. It's durable enough to keep your sacred water safe of you dont throw it out of the plane before you jump. Never tried that so im waiting for some feedback š keep this with you when you are hiking and you will be thankful when it is really needed.

AWESOME 100% quality product
It is really good!, excellent quality, excellent appearance, does not smell bad, does not have much smell actually.I think it fills expectations, and I really think it is a good price for value, I have seen other canteens that are too expensive and not worth it, but this has very good quality and detail at a fair price, I like it. I really like to see quality for a fair price, and this canteen has it

Great canteen, terrible case.
The canteen and cup worked great and where perfect for my 7 day hunt in NM. The case however is straight garbage. Does not secure very firmly to a belt and the snap broke after 3 days.

Good canteen and cup. Cap is too tight. -- they sent new cap and I tuned it to work - 3hrs work.
The good large stainless canteen and cup. The cap won't seal until over-tightened, making it impossible to open without large pliers and it cracked after a few uses. Cannot find a replacement cap. The stainless cup is well made and the butterfly handles snap in place nicely.**Update: They sent me a new cap free of charge. I did some close measuring and it turns out the threads get way too tight before the gasket even makes contact. The lid is essentially too small in diameter. From a more detailed view, the threads in cap have deep triangular grooves and tall triangular points, but don't have very wide grooves. The metal canteen has the typical rounded/extruded threads that are shallow but wide. So the tall points on the lid smash into the shallow grooves of the canteen and the wide points on the canteen try to squeeze into the narrow grooves of the cap, which makes it jam up prematurely.I spent an evening filing, scraping/cutting and sanding the threads on the cap and canteen to make them more compatible. It now works very well, but it was about 3 hours of work to get a clean fit.The vendor should redesign the cap to make the threads more trapezoidal than triangular, which would widen the grooves and reduce the height of the points, more closely matching the round threads on the canteen. They should not sell it until the cap fits properly.

The chain and the hinge for the handles on the cup are the ONLY stainless steel components.
The media could not be loaded. When I bought this product, its label was "TargetEvo 1.2QT Portable Water Bottle Stainless Steel Military Canteen" The word "Aluminum" is nowhere on the page. The specs for the canteen ONLY said "Material: Stainless Steel" and the sheen and polish on the product image suggests that it is stainless steel. Unfortunately what showed up isn't what is pictured.Stainless steel sticks to magnets. This canteen is aluminum. Its only stainless steel components are the hinge and the chain holding the cap on... likely because if they were aluminum they would break too easily, and all of the surfaces that come in contact with the water you depend on it for are aluminum. Aluminum cooking products need to be anodized so that it does not leech into your food and beverages when cooking with them. This product is not even anodized.Again, the product pictured on Amazon is in no way what shows up. The cloth container in the picture is an OD Green nylon, much like any US issue web gear. The container that showed up was more of a forest-green cotton. The handle on the product picture is long and large enough not to overheat over the stove and they are offset so that they interlock and stay in place, but the product that showed up has handles that are not offset and are too short to stay clear of your stove's flames. It overheats on a stove and you'll burn yourself picking it up.

The cap can be hard to get off
I'm overall very satisfied with the canteen. The one annoying thing that I struggled with at first is that no amount of strength could get the cap off. The cold weather caused the cap to become non-removable. Run the cap under hot water for 30 seconds and then it can be unscrewed. The inside of the canteen also had a chemical smell. I washed it thoroughly with soap, and again with salt water, and now it has no smell.

Buy It For The Stainless Steel Water Bottle (which is great), Not The Case
Title says it all. Very study water bottle. I could definitely feel good about putting both the cup and the water bottle right in the fire if needed. The Cap would melt so be mindful of that. The case material is just ok, but the design of the case is horrid; it's like some weird wrap around thing. I just found a pocket in my backpack and wedged the cup in it, and it's basically a holster for the water bottle. Very good; would recommend as long as you don't care about the case.
