Worked Like a Charm!
After putting a whole package of brown sugar into a canister, it became as hard as a rock. I wasn’t even able to chip any out using a metal spoon. So I googled, “how to soften brown sugar.“ One way is to put it in a microwave but I couldn’t do that because of metal on the canister. The other way I found was to purchase this item. After reading the reviews I decided I would do that. I figured for less than 10 bucks, what did I have to lose? I soaked in water the night I got it, and then laid it on top of the brown sugar in the canister. The next morning the brown sugar was soft enough for me to use for my oatmeal. Sweet! (No pun intended.) I only wish I had taken a “before photo” to post.Money well spent!

Works perfectly! But soak OVERNIGHT first, not 15 minutes
This little square is AMAZING. The only recommendation I have is to soak it at least overnight, not 15 minutes like the intructions say. I had a bag of brown sugar that couldve doubled as a brick. I put the hummingbird on top in an airtight container and the next morning i could spoon out the sugar like I had just opened a new bag.....UNREAL!!!

Does Not Work As Expected
I bought both the little bear (see 1nd photo) and the flower brown sugar savers with hopes that they would help preserve the freshness of my regular and dark brown sugar. I followed the directions to soak the items in water for 20 minutes, dry and put in my brown sugar containers. I found they didn't fit into my regular mouth canning jar so I found wide mouth jars and they fit just fine. I opened my jars after a week and was shocked to find that my Domino Dark Brown Sugar had turned white and crunchy (see 2st photo). I checked my regular brown sugar that had the flower design sugar saver in it and I found the same thing. The Domino Brown Sugar was white and crunchy. This was a total failure. I don't know if I could have done something wrong but I just think I wasted my money on these products. I do not recommend them.

Simple...Works
I've written about this before. This is actually a second one that I bought for my dad. We live in Phoenix where the air is so dry that I suspect the problem of brown sugar turning into a brick is worse than elsewhere. These "sugar savers" work well (in combination with a Tupperware-type sealed container) in keeping brown sugar soft. As mentioned before, I like the lip that allows me to (carefully) place the "saver" flat on top of the sugar and put a few drops of water on top of the "saver" extending the useful time before re-soaking. (Actually, I never re-soak it. I just put a few drops on top every time I use the sugar [2-3 times per month]). Obviously, if you follow my approach, you have to be a bit careful in handling the container not to spill water into the sugar.

Super Cute and Effective Way to Keep My Brown Sugar from Being Rock-like
Got these for the whole extended family. It's a bummer when we go to bake and the brown sugar is dry and hard as a rock. I don't have time to excavate the proper amount, and the rocks may not all dissolve properly in the baking. I know that we can microwave the brown sugar, but that still doesn't always produce the right results. I've also used a piece of bread in the jar before and that works too, but who wants to always be changing a slice of bread in the brown sugar? Not me! So this cute, food-safe terracotta hummingbird "tile" helps to keep our brown sugar nice and soft. Just submerge in water for 15 min, dry-off the outside, and plop into the closed container of brown sugar. Says it keeps the sugar moist for 3 months, but I would say it works much longer than that. Easy to refresh and keep going. All my gift recipients were very happy to have it. Looks just like the demo photos, no surprises with the quality!

Easy to use and did the job well.
I followed the instructions with the stone and put it in an airtight container with rock hard brown sugar. The next day I opened the container and was able to push a knife into the sugar and break it up. I soaked the stone as per instructions and replaced it in the sugar again and it softened it up nicely. I had a very large bag of hard sugar so I had to work on it but all turned out good. It was very easy to use.

Essential in my kitchen, and a great gift!
I purchased this brown sugar saver because my daughter gave me one, and I like it and use it so much that I bought more for gifts. This is an awesome product! Usage is simple.....soak the terra cotta square in water for fifteen minutes, pat dry, and place in a sealed bag of brown sugar. It keeps the brown sugar from becoming dried out and lumpy. ALSO.....I found that putting it in a cookie jar will keep cookies fresher, too! I have a favorite recipe (Butterfinger cookies) that becomes crisp quickly, and we prefer these cookies softer. I put them into a plastic container (a Tupperware celery container works well; it's a good size, seals completely, and the rack insert allows air circulation around the cookies); and tuck a brown sugar saver in with them, to keep them chewy and good! I'm going to a cookie exchange this month, and along with my cookies, I will gift the other attendees with brown sugar savers. Great stocking stuffers, too! (It doesn't hurt to have two to use!)

Simple, but works
My brown-sugar container looks cute, but unfortunately the seal is not tight enough. This little terracotta disc is a simple way to keep the sugar granular. Make sure you soak it in water for 10-15 minutes before putting it in the jar. Took a few hours, but my rock-hard sugar was transformed back into loose grains!

Not as picture
Not that it makes any difference to the way it works, but I was disappointed that - instead of the hummingbird as pictured - there was a teddy bear on the item I received.

so you might be best to look elsewhere
It does the job, but a week after ordering I saw the exact same product in Canadian Tire for $4 as the regular price, so you might be best to look elsewhere.

Softened my brick of brown sugar
I put the terra cotta brown sugar saver in a small bowl of water; the instructions said 15 minutes, but I left it there for a few hours as I went to do other things. Patted it dry, put it in my container of rock solid brown sugar. After a couple of days I returned to the container and with a fork with mild to medium pressure was able to break the brick up into small pieces, and then the small pieces into the crystals of brown sugar that we'd all like to see. Came back a few days later still, and the brown sugar is still soft, so the piece of terra cotta is working perfectly.

Terrible
Opened the package and the aroma coming from the clay was horrid. It smelled like it had been soaked in perfume. Thinking that soaking it would get rid of the smell, we discovered we were wrong. Put the clay piece into a partially filled jar of brown sugar. The smell was filling the room when we opened the jar the next day. The sugar had dissolved into sugar water. Given that we had paid $46 for the product, after shipping, taxes and excise duties, we chose not to return it. The piece of clay has been thrown out.

It works & looks nice!
Works like a charm! Had rock solid sugar, that I had to smash to place I'm a container. Clay puck is actually softening it! After two days, sugar crumbled enough to add another block of sugar.I've been resoaking the clay puck every 2 days given how dry the sugar is.Have read you can get these from Canadian Tire or other place for around $5, but for the convenience of having it delivered, I'm ok with the price
