Whitehead revealed as having nothing to say about evolution today
Concluding chapter 10 summarizes Whitehead's process philosophy, revealing for me the barrenness of it. Whitehead's impulse clearly is to create a web of discourse connecting the discoveries in physics of his day with the facts of us having evolved and us having awareness of consciousness. But this web of discourse neither provides wisdom nor solves problems, and the proliferation of new elemental particles since has left the quantum roots of his discourse without fertile soil. There's nothing here to build on, I think, and no insight into human nature beyond the obvious. Brewer tries to make Whitehead's ideas digestible by having three characters converge on them through dialogue, but it seemed stuffy to me. Still, I was grateful for that final chapter.

An interesting debate.
An interesting debate. Very readable and lets face it, whilst there's still a need to debate these subjects to help some people get their heads around reality, in 2014 there shouldn't be : )

Anecdotique.
