Fun game
This is actually a very fun game. I was not so sure at first but we played it at my best friend’s house and my husband had to buy one for our house. There are a lot of options so it keeps it fun!

They're just words
This is another gift I bought for one of my five million nephews and/or nieces. He's older now so I can no longer get away with something flashy that makes a lot of noise, you know, things I like.To my surprise, they opened the game up right then and there and started playing it. There was discussion about the "rules" (how cute) and other ways to play and then a discussion about what Anton Chekhov meant when he wrote an obscure play called, "That's my sandwich!" I stopped listening after that.Everyone seemed to enjoy the game, despite my scowling. I was asked to play but with my superior intellect and wordsmith, I felt it would have been unfair. /evil laugh. Okay, I'm exaggerating. I am a master at Scrabble, however, but never turned pro. Oh, if only that scholarship had come through!I would recommend this game but if alcohol is involved you may get some "interesting" words. That's all I'm going to say about that. What are you a cop? I want my phone call.

Fast and fun word game, easy to learn, high quality materials
If you like word games, Yigo is a fun game for the family or with friends. It took about 5 minutes to read through the rules and after 3-4 games, it was pretty easy to play without looking at the rules sheet. The rules sheet is complete and there are a number of rules that you need to learn, as well as how to use the special “action” cards. The game is made up of high quality cards, an hourglass timer, and a few accessories. It all fits in a small box, also well made and seems like it will last. It’s definitely a word game and building words and outwitting your opponents is the object of the game. It plays relatively fast so you can run through a lot of rounds to crown a winner in 20-30 minutes, maybe faster.– High quality letter and action cards, a nice box with accessories highlight this word game for 2-5 people– Fun, moves fast and does not take a long time to learn or to play– Good set of instructions/rules, you will be playing within 5-10 minutes and every game will be different, actions cards add fun and challenge

A swing and a miss
The primary reason for my rating is the quality of the cards: I won’t mince words, they’re awful. I can’t say I’ve experienced a deck quite like it; they’re matte and waxy, incredibly difficult to shuffle/fan, they bend very easily, stick together and are just generally unpleasant to handle. Perhaps they’ll improve with use, my husband seems to think they may. Frankly, I don’t see how. Maybe we got a fluke?? Even if I’d loved this game (and I don’t), the substandard cards spoil the fun.Nothing can more quickly take the wind out of your Game Night sails than opening up a new game to be greeted by 12 pages of complicated rules. The other extreme? Just as bad. For a word game, the writers of the instructions were, well, economical. I’d watched a brief YT vid explaining the concept: build words from letter cards in your hand and mix up the fun via several different ‘action’ cards. Simple enough. But during game play we found ourselves with questions regarding basic game mechanics, questions that were either not covered at all or written far too ambiguously. (If you’re Type A and competitive, like we are, this was a recipe for some serious bickering). I don’t enjoy games that are open to interpretation or debate; we encountered too many murky scenarios, ones that ultimately went unresolved. But if you hate long pages of rules, fear not! My review here is about 10x longer than what you’ll encounter inside the box.Though we only tried the 2-player version—which has slightly different rules—at the end of a few anti-climatic hands we weren’t especially eager to try it with a bigger group. (Note: the maximum number of players is 5). We also agreed we’d have more fun if we concocted a few house rules. But it won’t change the waxy cards problem.I don’t have young kids so can’t vouch how fun or educational this might potentially be; but two seasoned gamers, aged 42 and 47, felt a bit frustrated (and that it somehow must be us… for not getting into it more). I’d think we were YIGO’s target demographic as hubby loves strategy and I’m a sucker for just about any word-based game. And I’d be more than happy to try YIGO 2.0, once it’s better fleshed out and with market-standard playing cards. From the box: 7+ years; 2-5 players, 10-30 minutes. Contains 100 letter cards, 16 action cards, sand timer, 1 score pad, 1 pencil.Made in China.
