Good so far...but is it worth it for my quite moderate hearing loss?
My hearing is minor to moderately deficient above 4,5000 Hz (down 30 - 40 db). I've had two of these Sentire rechargeables for 2 days. They are VERY convenient to charge - no batteries to replace. The sound amplification is ok - cranking the volume control to just below the "hiss/noise" theshold provides the optimum improvement for me - setting 3 to 3.5 on the volume dial. The sound is a bit hollow sounding, but the upper mid-range is definitely amplified, which is the portion of the sound spectrum that contains the sibilants that most of us users are missing to some extent. I find them comfortable with both my regular glasses and over the glasses sunglasses on top of that as well. I prefer the "1 beep" setting. Accordin to one (conflicting) set of instructions, the "2 beep" setting activates BOTH mics in the earpiece, but I find this a tiny bit echoey. I have noticed an inconsistency in the descriptions of the 4 possible settings between what is in the manual that comes with the device and what is stated online. The manual says setting 1 and 3 use one mic for each each. Settings 2 and 4 use two mics for each ear. Settings 1 and 2 are for indoors. Settings 3 and 4 are for outdoors. The web site indicates simply a progression of amplification from 1 to 4. Not sure really the difference in actual function/amplification in the settings. It's like the marketer of these devices is not sure, either.I also ordered another make (Hearing Assist) that sells for $120 more than this set of two, also rechargeable, but using a single charging dock for both L and R. I'm suspecting they will be nearly identical with this set, but I won't know until I receive them.Update June 8, 2018:I received the Hearing Assist model. On the outside it looks identical to the Sentire, except the in the ear piece is solid - there is no split in the part that sticks in the ear that lets a little natural sound in like the Sentire Med unit has. The HA sounded to me like it over accentuated the mid frequencies (perhaps around 1,000 Hz) and muddied the audio for me. In contrast, the Sentire sounded like it emphasized frequencies a bit higher, perhaps around 2,000 to 5,000 Hz. Those frequencies helped me a bit more. There is a possibility the frequency curves are exactly the same in each model. If that's the case, the difference I noticed is due to the difference in the design of the ear piece. In either case, for $120 less, I'm preferring the Sentire Med unit over the more costly Hearing Assist model.I'm not sure yet if I am keeping either one. Give me a week or two.Update June 15, 2018What I have learned from the two marketers that I have asked questions to is that either 1). They are short of knowledge, specifics and specifications about these devices, or they keep specs close to the vest. They tend to describe their devices in "sales speak" using vague descriptions like "improved", " better", "wonderful", and "clear" rather than meaningful specifications like the amount of gain in db over the device's frequency response with what percent harmonic distortion. Perhaps the industry figures they are dealing primarily with elderly who are ignorant about such measures, so why bother. Just snow them with vague, meaningless BS.My recommendation: Order 2 or 3 different models of these devices and try and compare them. There is a minimum of a 30 day trial period. One is sure to seem to work better for you than the others.

Its ok I guess
This is what the true audiologists would call disdainfully "just an amplifier". It does not select frequencies to optimize the aural recognition of spoken words nor bluetooth to your phone etc, BUT it does not cost $5000 either!! The set up is straight forward as is the charge system. I have used it in bed to watch TV. The audio on TV at 20 ft away is def louder and I guess easier to follow/understand. Bothersomely it also simultaneously enhances noise of rustling sheets etc within 30 inches of me...maybe all aids will do this. IF you hair is long, it would be hidden otherwise its presence is known. I confess Im using it very little. Im thinking I should have gotten device that tags in at the smart TV and then bluetooths wirelesslly to a speaker at my bed. Seems well made. Has a bit of hiss and the start up chirps are a bit of a bother. I can not comment on charge time. Good luck Roythaboy

Can be recharged overnight
I have low moderate hearing loss and the volume range from 1-4 works well for me (I'm usually on 2.). The fact that the re-charger shuts off automatically when the device is fully charged, thus allowing for charging overnight, is an important feature for me, since a product I tried earlier could only be charged for 2-3 hours without the risk of damage. The only reason I didn't give this one a five is that I have trouble distinguishing between the connector at the tip, the volume roller and the mode button, and feel like I'm fumbling when I'm trying to be undetected. I'll probably get better at it when I've had it longer than 3 weeks.

not perfect. Now
It was helpful, not perfect. Now, after four months, suddenly it will not power up at all. It has not been dropped, wet, or damaged in any way. I am going to contact the seller for help. I will update with the result of that contact.**PROMISED UPDATE: CUSTOMER SERVICE DONE RIGHT!!Soon after I reported an unusual issue with my device,I was contacted by Sentire’s DANNY. He asked a few relevant questions, and within a few short days, I received a replacement unit that works perfectly. This is the way a company retains customers, develops a solid trustworthy reputation, gains confidence of new potential customers, and enjoys a long-term profitable. Other companies who can’t be bothered with good customer followup care are doomed to flakey reputation and a mediocre business future. An unnamed company who is resisting helping me with their product defect, I hope you are reading this. Sentire deserves your business!
