Abuse, Harm, Lies, Frustration and Few Answers
Did we all read the same books that did these reviews? Because I can’t figure out HOW these books received 4 or 5 stars? Heck, even a 3!As of this review, I have read the first 3 books in this series: The Silver Swan, The Broken Puppet and Tacet A Mortuis. These 3 center on the same couple, Bishop and Madison. This review is an in general review for ALL 3 and there will be spoilerish content to justify the rating.I would NOT recommend this series. The first book was offered for free, so I gave it a try. I then read book 2 and 3 because I wanted to know if they got better, if redemption was possible for Bishop and the others and I wanted answers! They didn’t get better. In book one Bishop and the other guys, even Nate at times, treat Madison like complete trash. Like harsh words, physical violence, cruel games and then theres the extremely violent bruising hate filled words sex with Bishop that Madison has. The sex is extremely hard and rough, but not in a sexy way I didn’t think throughout all 3. He literally DID NOT care if he harmed her physically and bruised her. At one point he bites one of her nips so hard it BLEEDS. She doesn’t seem to care and he sure didn’t. Only in book 3 does he ONE time kind of have a moment of concern when she’s basically bruised all over then he quickly gets over it.She was sexually assaulted / raped multiple times over many years starting as a young girl. She built up walls mentally. But has no problem sleeping with Bishop or his physical violence. While some women might start to think they aren’t good enough for better treatment. Madison doesn’t have those thoughts, but seems to like it? At the least is okay with it. But she never told adults about her abuse and never sought treatment. It is extremely wrong that this girl could be as highly functioning, as she is personality and intimacy wise based on her past.Numerous times they threatened to kill her, including Bishop. And they also tell her she won’t survive their games.Supposedly when she was a child she had silver eyes. Bishop says in a picture of her he saw around age ten then they were blue. But now at like 17 they’re green, she says they changed. Umm not possible as a teenager for your eyes to change. The book kept running a more paranormal vibe to it, like devil worship almost. So I kept waiting and waiting for her as the Silver Swan to gain some type of use of some power and use it against them or others. I mean they said her eyes changed after all.So WTF is a Silver Swan? Apparently, JUST A GIRL born into these few families of evil men. In the past all the female born had been killed. But Madison slipped through the cracks and the guys wanted to kill her. So. Weird. They turned out in these 3 books to NOT be paranormal elements actually. She was just a girl.Regular ol’ just murdering and lying humans. So then there’s soooo many secrets. Like secret man club evil secrets. Like their business and what they do blah blah. There was potential here. But too many missed opportunities.See the rest of my review on Goodreads!

UGGHHH
Oh my god! I can't even with this book! I really thought I was going to like it but I am almost done with book 2 and I feel we have learned NOTHING new! So many parts of this book read so immature, one minute she is all "I'm a BA not one is going to hide anything else for me (I'm packing my guns you know bc I'm a BA). Then all it takes for her to turn back into a DA is one make out session or one word from Bishop (mainly him telling her to stfu or get the Fudge out so she can't learn anything new.) Honestly I don't feel like I am into this enough or drawn in enough to buy the next book. Just feel like a bunch of teens (which they are) running around trying to be something they are not.

Had potential
Review*Mild spoilers*This review encompasses all five books in the Elite Kings series.I was intrigued enough to keep on reading, so that’s why this is getting two stars instead of one. This review is for all of the books - I didn’t feel there was much difference between the h/Hs featured in books 1-3 versus 4-5.I am clearly in the minority, but I can’t figure out all the five star reviews. Seriously. The writing was OK but at times confusing as hell.Characters were jerks with very little redeeming qualities. Girls flip flopped quickly - traumatic things happened to them and they just forgave and moved on. Actually, everyone seemed to boomerang from one emotion to the opposite without much transition in between to show any progression from on to the other. It felt flaky.Another thing that become a pet peeve - almost every other page (sometimes every next page), the author was listing a song that was playing in the background and the artist. Noticeable and annoying. In book 3, the writing changed between present and past tense as well.A lot of reviewers touted this as dark romance - it didn’t really feel dark. She did a good job of world building and this had a lot of potential but fell short for me. There was the element of the secret society, drugs, sex, etc., but it didn’t feel truly dark romance. Additionally - the first three books are spent building a couple that is pretty much blown apart by book five. The author is doing something right because I kept reading but the whole time I questioned myself as to why I was continuing to do so, however, I do not think I will be reading the other books in these series. These belong in Kindle Unlimited and are overpriced and drawn out IMHO.If you’re really looking for dark, angsty secret society-ish teen romance, try the Elite 7. Each book is written by a different author, but the effort is spearheaded by Ker Dukey and K Webster who are QUEENS of this stuff.

A dark, deathly and consuming romance that'll break you apart and mangle your heart...
Shit. Shiiiiiiiit... F. M. L. Screw me sideways. Amo Jones has made iniquity something to strive for. Christ. If I thought that The Silver Swan was dark romance perfection, I have no idea what to say about The Broken Puppet. You see, there isn't a single word or sentence that makes this book special. No. Nope. Na-ah. This was word after word, paragraph after paragraph, page after page of evil genius. What makes The Elite Kings series IT, is that it posses your heart and soul. You can't put it down and you can't shake it off. You have no choice but to submerge yourself in its world and succumb to every deliciously volatile, devilish, sinful feeling it gives you. It will haunt your every though and your every dream... yes, my dreams have been completely messed up and I freaking love every minute of them. Do. Not. Wake. Me. Up. For your own good...!So. The Broken Puppet picks up right where The Silver Swan left us hanging. The transition from one book to another was done flawlessly, and I loved that it didn't take the story ages to get back into its pace. Personally I hate it when a cliffhanger drags. I'm so glad that it didn't take long to get back to the Elite Kings club mystery. I have to say that the story development yet again is impeccable. Amo Jones' writing style is nothing short of phenomenal and I have to applaud her on her ability to completely transport you into her world. There isn't a single thing I can fault within the plot line and its development. This book is just sublime to read, beyond pleasurable.Although the story maintains its sexy angsty tension it doesn't contain nearly as much sex as its predecessor. However, it still has this uber hot, suffocating quality to it, and when there is sex it is very much to escalate the bond and ties and emotions that are weaving themselves between characters. Obviously the focus is still very much on Madison and Bishop, however there are lose strings that start winding themselves around other characters and bringing them out to play. The cunning brilliancy of this book is that as much as it answers a lot of questions, it presents a million more in their stead. There are a few topics that are of a dark, sensitive nature and that some people may struggle with... BUT, that is Amo Jones through and through— unapologetic... no fucks given! I'm really trying no to give anything away. It'd be a sin to do so.Look, I could sit here and go on and on about everything that makes The Broken Puppet a must read. But the reality is that you'd be wasting your time reading it all rather than reading the book for yourself. If there is one series you get into in this lifetime— The Elite Kings needs to be IT. It'll suck you in and break you apart and never ever put you back together quite same again. It'll make you cry, laugh, curse, scream... sweat... wet... Amo Jones has created a masterpiece that Edgar Allan Poe would envy. I mean this has all the dark feels and genius of The Raven... only it has the most infuriating and heart constricting cliffhanger...

Still not quite getting it
I still don't understand what is going on? I even went and read other reviews to see if anyone had explained it haha.Again there was an attempt at a cliffhanger but this time I just do not care. I have seen authors say that they plan out an entire series before writing it and I do not feel like this happened here. It feels as though it has been made up as it goes along. This is strengthened to me with the inconsistencies and errors.I read this one to try to see if it would explain a bit more of the gaps in the first one but I won't be continuing. It's like the author wants us to believe that these immature impulsive teenagers are a part of the world's most secretive yet notorious gang that kill people and everyone in the story is in on it but no one cares that babies are killed for being girls... sorry I rant a bit but yeah. Not convincing. Not for me

Better
I nearly didn't read this book as I wasn't overly taken with the first, however there is amongst the annoying parts an intriguing plot going on and I wanted to see how it went.Whilst it's not on par with Tijan or Sarah J Mass, it does have potential. The mystery of the plot is gripping and does make the reader want to know what happens.Annoying parts are the author's constant reference to music and the artist, almost as though she's on commission plugging them! When Tilly goes missing there's no real concern for her, also the fate of another girl at the hands of the Kings, you'd think Madi would be a bit more upset....And do we really need to know how quick Madi or how many showers she has? These along with the music reference just seem pointless words to fill the page.Jones has a good plot it just needs the silly immature stuff taken out, when you're writing about sex being rough ie hands round neck till you nearly loose consciences, then the in between needs to be more grown up even though the characters are supposed to be 17.Will I get the third book? Yes as I really want to know the story of the Kings and the silver swan. I hope it's not an anti climax.

Strange book
Unfortunately it's one of those books 'I've started so I'll finish' . Madison is just way to stupid and irritating for me. There was many occasions in this book where I almost gave up completely, like when she went to that gun retreat and she knew she was in danger but didn't tell anyone where she was. Then proceeded to tell the person who she felt was dangerous that her father didn't know she was there and then when told she was in danger refused to leave at first. I just can't relate to her and her actions. I like to be able to identify myself in most characters or imagine myself to be that character. Madison makes no sense to me. Her friend has gone missing and she couldn't care less. They tell her to read the book for answers so she barely reads the book and keeps asking questions. I'll read it till the series ends because the concept of the book is excellent but I'm really struggling with Madison, my eyes have never rolled so much reading a book.

Amazing sequel
A lot of authors are not able to create sequel books that even come close to matching their predecessor. This is not the case with The Broken Puppet. The book opens with tension with doesn't albeit until the final page (ends on yet another cliffhanger).Madison doesn't find out much more, which gets a bit annoying, until the very end. Her relationship with Bishop progresses but slowly.Yet, there is just so much going on. As with the first book, there are so many sub-characters and they help to make this incredible book...well, incredible.Still lots of unanswered questions that I hope will be answered in the third book.Looking very forward to it!
