if you have never used this item, you will be disappointed. I finally figured out that you rake after pulling and it pulls out more undercoat in small quantities so you can get a smooth topline. Think of it as a thinning sheer that takes care of small patches of under coat. Its more of a finishing product. I like it though. I just had to figure out how to use it to my benefit.
