GET YOUR RETINOL ON WITH NEUTROGENA'S LOWER, BUT EFFECTIVE, .3% FACE/NECK SERUM -- IT'S A KEEPER!
NEUTROGENA TAGLINE: "FOR PEOPLE WITH SKIN"The Neutrogena brand has gotten my skin through any issue I've ever had, but their Rapid Wrinkle Repair line is the absolute bomb. My skin has changed during Covid. I wear masks all the time in public, not only for added protection and because of where I live, but because of Covid-sensitive, auto-immune issues. I've had to pivot on my skincare routine as a result, and Neutrogena has been there for me every step of the way. I have breakouts, redness, irritation, and dryness that I've never had before because my face is smothered behind a mask and breathing the same moist, trapped air.And now here comes an even gentler version of Retinol products for overnight called Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Pro+. I ordered their .3% night cream at the same time as this non-greasy fragrance-free .3% Retinol Serum capsule in a 7-count trial size. The one thing I know is that dermatologist-recommended Neutrogena products always have my back. A single capsule smooths on face and neck like glass. It can be worn alone overnight or underneath the night cream (see my photos). I usually don't cover up my night serums, but that's a personal preference. Since serums penetrate a deeper layer of skin, I like to leave them alone to do their thing and wear Retinol creams on different nights. But, the capsules are designed to be paired with the cream, so the choice is yours. The serum comes in a rubbery capsule with twist-off top. Easy to use. Once you complete the 7 capsules, you may want to buy more or revert to using the night cream.Does the serum work? Yes, but it takes up to 4 weeks for results. Retinol in a low concentration like .3% compared to a higher 3% is, by nature, easily tolerated by skin but with slower results. That's especially good for sensitive skin girls, like me. But, I do love and prefer their higher % Retinol products because my skin is used to them and can tolerate more Retinol. In this line, I'm most interested in trying their Pro+ .5% Power Serum, which is almost twice as much Retinol as this serum. So keep that in mind, too.Whichever you choose in the lineup, you can't go wrong. My sensitive skin has never reacted badly to a Neutrogena Retinol product and this new line is a gentler way to get your Retinol on without worrying about irritated skin, for most of you. Of course everyone's skin is all different, which Neutrogena recognizes, and you may have to adjust how often and how you use the serum and with which moisturizer, if any.As always, be sure to wear sunscreen protection outdoors when using Retinol products.NOTE: Some of these products are made in other countries, like Italy or France, etc. They are still genuine products.

Softens skin, but mixed feelings
I have tried a few of these serum capsules now, and they do soften my skin, but I have mixed feelings about them. The reason my feelings are mixed is that I'm just not sure it's worth it. I think it is 7 capsules for just over $10 right now, which is OK if I notice results, but I didn't notice any significant results. Was my skin softer? Yes. Was it noticeably softer than other serums I have tried? Not really. I use moisturizer regularly and serums occasionally and some I like better than others, but I'm willing to try different products to see what works better for me. My skin is dry, so moisturizer is a must for me. Serums seem to help, but I haven't found a big stand-out for me yet. This one is in these little capsules and has a somewhat thick gel that you squeeze out after opening it. It's easy to do, I didn't notice any scent, it doesn't leave me with any residue feelings (I didn't feel sticky or greasy after using), and my skin did feel moisturized after using. That said, I have tried other serums in bottles that seem to be just as effective for me. Some might cost more, but I get more than 7 uses out of them too. This is limited to 7 uses, where the bottled serums last much longer for me, which is what makes me question if it would be worth it for me. I'm in my early 40's with some fine lines and lighter wrinkles, and my skin tends to be dry, so maybe it's geared toward a different skin type that might enjoy greater benefits. Would I try this again? Maybe, but right now, I feel like I could use another product that would be as effective for me but could be a better value. I gave this 4 stars because it does seem to help, but with only 7 uses, it is a bit limited in value for me.

Convenient for travel, but super overpriced
I brought these on a trip with me so I didn't have to pack my full sized bottle of retinol, and they were a really convenient option - they took up much less room in my luggage and I didn't have to worry about potential mess of a product exploding all over my bag. However, these were SO overpriced. I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the product listing when I ordered, because I thought you got more product than you do. For $10.33, you only get 7 capsules, which only have enough product in them for one use. For that price, I really can't justify ever buying these again.I also didn't love the product itself. While the capsules are convenient for travel, it was a bit of a pain in the butt to fish a tiny capsule out of the bottle and try to open and apply it without getting it everywhere - a standard bottle of skin care product is much easier to use on a day to day basis. I found the consistency to be very greasy and it didn't really dry down very well. You definitely wouldn't be able to apply makeup over this if you used it in the mornings. I didn't notice much of a difference in my skin after using this for a week, but I was already using a strong retinoid before trying this.
