A solution to the rusting stainless
I was tired of the horrible corrosion associated with the cast aluminium bodies but was concerned when I read the reviews of this stainless model to find that it too was rusting in marine applications. But I think I found a solution. I purchased a zinc bar (also on Amazon: Martyr Bombardier Johnson/Envinrude Anode Power Trim and Tilt Models Martyr Bombardier Johnson/Envinrude Anode Power Trim and Tilt Models ) for about $10. I used a grinder to smooth out the casting marks on the anode and then drilled holes for mounting the stainless fuel-water separator body.A “ground” wire was attached to share the anode load with the rest of the boat.UPDATE #1: After a month in and out of the marine environment, the zinc has begun to oxidize, but the stainless components remain pristine (as seen in the actual photo of the wet stainless whilst several miles off the coast of Florida).UPDATE #2: After two months of marine exposure, a trace amount of rust had formed in two places of the stainless component. At this point, the rust is so superficial that it wiped of with a rub of a finger. I cleaned the surface and then treated the stainless component with anti-corrosion spray.UPDATE #3: After about four months total use, no additional rust has formed on the stainless components, but both the brass fitting and the zinc anode have oxidized further (as seen in the photo in which the item appears to be discolored by the brown anti-corrosion spray).UPDATE #4 Now in use for over 8 months. Without any additional interventions, the unit's condition remains stable and unchanged. No addition oxidation has occured on the stainless component.UPDATE #5 Now well into the second season of use. The improvised ground wire broke off some months back. Despite the loss of the ground wire AND without any further corrosion treatments (see Update #3) the stainless component shows only minor rust marks (see last picture in the queue).UPDATE #6 At 18 plus months of exposure, the device remains unchanged from prior state.

Nice Unit
This is a gem of a fuel filter holder. It is nicely machined, seals up fine and looks good in the back of my Whaler. It will accept most any standard fuel filter, and in a pinch one could use an oil filter to get thru the day. I use the short stubby ones as space is a factor. Previously I had a similar setup, but the smaller version from another company. The problem was that I had to buy the sediment bowl along with the filter each year. Too expensive, plus you really don't need the bowl. At the end of each season filter is removed and the fuel poured into a glass container. If no water is present, then it is poured back into the filter and back onto the holder for the next season. If water is there, then the filter is replaced. I replace the filter every third year, water or not. Best to keep a spare filter on the boat in case of a load of bad gas. Somebody kick me off the soapbox. Anyway, this is a quality part and I'm happy to finally have one in place.

Quality part, no better out there IMO
I've had this filter bracket installed in my Whaler since 2016. As of 05/2020 there is a very light discoloration or patina of surface corrosion. It's very light, probably easily removed but so light it doesn't bother me. My Whaler is 30 years old and I expect this bracket to last many, many seasons, well past me. Previously I'd only get 2 or 3 seasons from the cast aluminum filter brackets.

Better but not best
Better than the powder coated version for the saltwater environment but it takes a magnet so it isn't high quality stainless steel. Also, for the life of me I can't figure out why it ships with brass plugs. If you are buying this, do yourself a favor and order stainless plugs and fittings. Corrosion is not your friend.

Low grade "stainless"
Just after opening the package i grabbed a magnet off the refrigerator and it sticks, but not as strong as it would to mild steel. This means it is not 304 or 316 stainless and will be prone to corrosion.

Corrosion resistant
I've used this bracket on several boats after having one of the powder coated ones years ago. They do not corrode and there are other brands of fuel filters that will fit it if you don't prefer a Sierra filter.

Water Free Fuel Finally
I got this on time and it was exactly what I ordered. I have installed it and it fit great in my G3 170HP w/115 Yamaha powered bass boat. I feel a lot better about the fuel I run thru the engine now.

Four Stars
This is a very good filter head. Stainless steel is the only way to go.
