HOOBRO Storage Chest

I love the look of the chest and it was easy to put together, only takes a Phillips screwdriver and an Allen wrench, but there are a few issues and concerns.The first is the bottom of the chest. The bottom piece is much thinner than the rest of the chest and I’m worried it won’t hold much weight. I haven’t filled the chest yet, so I’ll update this review if the board cracks.The other issue is the final hinge you put in place to slow close the lid (picture of instructions and piece are shown) and hold it open. The lid closed perfectly until I put that piece on. After that it closed at an angle and rubbed on one side. I tried adjusting the screws several times, but the issue continued. I MIGHT try adding new holes, but for now I removed the piece and left the lid as is.It’s still functional and perfect for our needs. We don’t have children so I don’t have to worry about the lid slamming down on someone’s hand, but I would return this if I had kids because without that hinge the lid can come crashing down easily.

This chest is a beautiful addition to my home. Putting it together was not difficult and it made me feel part of it's creation. I love it and have had compliments by other on it's beauty.

This is a nice unit rated 3 star as the lid is warped and doesn’t fit right otherwise serves its purpose

Great toybox. Instructions were just pictures, you know, the universal language any dope can understand 😜 just don't do what I did and put side board in with holes for hinge on the outside only to accidentally cover them with side panels. Well guess I'm not so smart🤓. But with a little drilling, a handy tool from my son, all's well. You can do it too!!

I purchased this item to store my vinyl records. It is the perfect choice since it does the job and blends in with our decor.

The chest looks good and is fairly simple to assemble.All the panels are thinner than I expected...I knew it would be made of pressed wood but the pressed wood panels are surprisingly thin. Additionally, I could not use the "safety hinge" that holds the lid open when needed. The safety hinge was so stiff/strong/tight, using it would pull the closest hinge and it's screws loose from their mounting whenever I opened and closed the lid...so couldn't use the safety hinge and so the lid opens and closes freely. Of course, the lid can now fall/slam closed if allowed. I could drill out the lid hinge holes and put small bolts through the hinge and lid which would make it strong enough to deal with the safety hinge's pull...but that would mean being able to see the bold head on the top of the lid...and I may do that eventually, but haven't yet.

The side hinge is a piece of crap it hard to shut the top down. I even oil the hing. I was afraid that if i try to keep closing it that i would pull the screws out on the back hinges. Not worth the money and i bought two of them

The safety hinge does not work. I bought two of these and the hinge was stuck on one. When I tried To shut it the hinges went right through the top. I needed two so I bought another third one. The hinge was also stuck on that one. Needless to say I now have one with no safety hinge. I think that 85.00 is way to much to have to pay for it.

Looks good, easy to assemble, but not sure I'd use it for a bench, there's a lot of flex in the seat. Works good for a toy box.
