Concluding the Himiko story arc?
In this Tomb Raider story arc, the Queen Himiko possession story elements referred to previously finally reach a conclusion. The evil queen has taken control of Sam and is amassing followers. It is up to Lara to once and for all rid her friend of Himiko's control.I must admit I'm not a huge fan of the Himiko/Yamatai story arc of the comics. It's not entirely uninteresting and it was a good concept back in the first reboot game but I do think its time to put behind this aspect of the story line and move onto other things. That said, there does seem to finally be a conclusion to the Himiko possession story in this comic and this story arc did have a somewhat interesting plot. Also, of interesting note is an implied connection between Himiko's power from the first reboot Tomb Raider game and the Divine Source from the sequel- Rise of the Tomb Raider game. A Trinity character posing as an asylum doctor mentions trying to get the possessed Sam to "make a connection to the Divine Source". Not much is made out of this, but perhaps the connection between these seemingly unrelated things will be explored further in the next comic story arc and/or in the third upcoming game. One criticism I have is that it is unclear where all the Himiko followers come from. They seem to be various random people that just happen to find and end up following Sam/Himiko and doing her bidding. Admittedly it at least doesn't make as little sense as the Solarii worshipers from the Season of the Witch story arc. Unlike Mathias, Himiko was someone people outside Yamatai could have known all about as she was a historical figure and one could assume some people would know of the more secret mystical aspects of her history shown in the Tomb Raider series. And since Sam's incarceration into the asylum was on the news, perhaps these people could have made the connection that "hey, that ancient Japanese sun queen we worship must be in the body of that young woman we saw on the news". But still it does seem odd how all those people just came to her.Still, overall I was satisfied with seeing a conclusion to the Himiko story arc and look forward to seeing where the Tomb Raider story line will go next.

Tomb Raider Volume 2 Review
I've bought all the pre Rise of the Tomb Raider volumes and I'm buying all the post Rise of the Tomb Raider volumes. So far the post Rise volumes don't have much reference to Rise. You might see a small image of something from Trinity but the rest so far you could have gotten from playing the first Tomb Raider game. This particular volume was centered around Sam being possessed by Himiko again. Suddenly, Himiko has a sort of mirror to trap her priestess's souls in and basically the entire volume of comics is about getting that mirror but with a tiny bit of Rise reference by saying it's connected to Trinity in some way. So, yeah if you're interested in reading about that go for it. I'm not entirely disappointed but I would have liked to see more Rise references since these comics take place after Rise and is supposed to tie into the game.

Great games but not so great comics
The plot is too weak too predictable, not worth reading they make Lara more and more of a whiny character. The last several comics have been nothing more then fetch quest story's and honest it does not do Lara Croft justice and I've been hoping the reboot comics would start catching that original spirit of adventure and actual "tomb raiding" but it doesn't it's another help me save my friend storyline the last 2 writers and this one seems to not get how Lara should be portrayed. I'll be honest the older tomb raider comics from the late 90s are better then this even that short mini series Lara Croft and the temple of Osiris comic was better then this. In conclusion not worth reading and I probably won't read anymore of the reboot timeline comics unless they hire a more seasoned veteran of the comic book community maybe even the ones from the 90s would be great like Andy Park sad to say this book was a disappointment.

Which is sad given just how good the previous series was
This comic series benefits from more consistent artwork from its predecessor, however it is let down by what I would only describe as a lack of soul. The 2013-2015 series depicted a very human, vulnerable, compelling Lara. This time, not so much. The story is essentially a series of action set pieces strung together by a thin plot, with little to no exploration of the titular character. Which is sad given just how good the previous series was: while the art was hit-and-miss, the stories were strong, and above all Lara felt as though she had a life beyond tomb raiding. So yeah. Anyone hoping for some insight into Lara's character may as well save their money. They won't find it here.

Sam - Himeko arc
I read through this quickly today. It felt quite short, though I'm not sure if that's just because I was eager to find out the ending. Lets just say that Sam's arc has been resolved completely by the end of the volume, which is what I hoped for. There's the usual antics, with Lara being captured, connections to some sort of artifact or ancient order and Sam being a poor damsel again etc. Trinity's henchmen make an appearance, and the orders they receive from their higher-ups seem to hint at the organization's MO moving forward (how they might interact with Lara in Shadow of the Tomb Raider).I can't say everything makes perfect sense, there are convenient plot devices and some moments are outright camp and silly. Jonah is but pointless from a narrative perspective. The Amazon.com reviewer notes that there are no significant references to the Rise of the Tomb Raider, though I don't see why there should be other than the brief mention, as Rise follows a completely different story-line which for the most part was wrapped up conclusively. There is no significant mention of Sam/Lara's relationship during Rise either. Lets hope that changes going forward with the new game, it would be pretty suspicious to end the trilogy without mentioning the most important person in Lara's life.

but I personally didn't like the art style that much
I would reccomend it for Tomb Raider fans who have played the newer games. The story is OK, but I personally didn't like the art style that much.If you haven't played any of the newer games, but you want to read some Tomb Raider comics, then in my opinion these comics would be better to start with: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Tomb-Raider-Archives-1-Dan-Jurgens/1506703321/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1501137918&sr=8-17&keywords=tomb+raider .

A good read
A really good read.. If you haven't read the others prior to this, I don't think it matters as it would explain what's going on.. Can't wait for the 3rd installment to come out

Next adventure after Rise of the Tomb Raider.
This comic book collects issues #7-#12 of the second arc 'Choice and Sacrifice'. Lara tries to save Sam (spoiler alert) who has been possessed by Himiko again. Finally banishing Himiko from Samantha's body, Lara will probably set out to deal with Trinity and avenge her father. The story line is interesting and engaging, I really like this Lara Croft. Can't wait for the next Tomb Raider game.
