Fantastic recipes, quick, easy, delicious. Well-written cookbook
This is a fantastic cookbook. I was a bit hesitant to purchase the book, so I went over to the authors blog and found a couple of Indian food recipes for the instant pot over there that looked good. Both recipes were quick and easy to make and both came out absolutely delicious, at least as good as what I get at my local Indian restaurant. This is a great outcome, especially considering I'm new to instant pot cooking and new to cooking Indian food at home. Both recipes made quite a lot of food, I was able to freeze the leftovers and they re-heated beautifully (no more grocery store frozen Indian food dinners for me, this is so much better, tastier, and cheaper). This book includes a color photo of every recipe on the page with the recipe as well as some introductory text that puts the recipe in context. Most of the dishes are new to me so knowing that the end product looks like and having some context is incredibly helpful.I'm also delighted that this cookbook inspired me to find and shop at my local Indian grocery store. They've got all kinds of great stuff that I've started to include in my American recipes with great results. I'm sure that this will vary a lot depending on how you shop, but I also found the recipes in this book to be very affordable. If you are watching your food budget, you'll find some great cheap eats here, after the initial cost of purchasing the spices (at my local Indian grocery store I found the spices to be very reasonably priced). This book isn't huge, but it's packed with recipes I'm excited about making. I'm trying to eat a diet of whole foods with no added sugars (no white sugar, no honey, no maple syrup, no molasses, no ground up dates...) and I love that every recipe in this book fits the bill (except the desserts, but I consider that a good thing, I love that the recipes are authentic, not modified-diet recipes). I'm also trying to eat more butter and I love that this book gives me lots of opportunity to add more butter to my meals (just add ghee).

This book is great if you're new to Indian cooking -OR- new to Instant Pot
Note: I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but this book is so great that I feel compelled to write one.I finally bought an Instant Pot a month ago. I'd been trying to learn how to use it and what to make with it, when I stumbled upon a recipe for Chicken Korma on the author's blog. I'd never cooked Indian Food before because I always thought it would either take too long or I wouldn't have all the right spices. But, I figured I'd give it a shot. The recipe was so well-written and thought out, that even though this dish seemed kind of involved for my first attempt at Indian cooking, I was able to easily follow it. The result was amazing. It was the best tasting Indian food I'd ever had, and it was the best food I've ever cooked (my wife thinks so too). I was so inspired from making the Chicken Korma that I read more about her blog, saw she had this cookbook, and ordered it. I've made a few recipes from it now, and each one I try comes out so amazing. The recipes are easy to follow, the results are great, and best of all, the ingredients are all healthy and good for you. I could have just followed the recipes available for free on her blog, but I like having a cookbook. I find it much easier than having a laptop in the kitchen. Plus the book organizes the recipes in a helpful way and provides useful context and tips. One of the best purchases I've made recently.

Delicious, EASY, Authentic Recipes
I credit Ashley, the creator of the blog My Heart Beets, and author of this book for getting me started with Indian cooking and falling in love with it.There is a LOT of cooking content online, if you've ever looked at Pinterest, for example. Some of it is good, some of it is great but I find that the majority is either just "OK" or not that good. After trying out a few of the recipes on that blog, I found that they were ALL great and easy to make and I came to trust it as a reliable source, which is important to me, so I don't have to waste time and ingredients making mediocre dishes. Ashley is one of the rare people who have great taste AND can write a recipe in such a clear manner that it is very difficult to mess it up if you pay attention to the directions.I have cooked recipes from this book for other people and they are always delighted with the results. I work with a lot of people from India and they are typically impressed the food I make. For example, a colleague from Kerala always talks about how authentic the Beef Fry recipe smells when I bring it in for lunch.I don't want to sound too hyperbolic but if you are interested in getting into Indian cooking, this book (and her blog) can change your life. Before discovering that blog and this book, I cooked food that was basically utilitarian. It was decent but just something to eat. Now, I eat food every day that is better than my local Indian restaurant and it doesn't even take that long to make...for example, with an hour and $10 (or less) worth of ingredients, I can have 3-4 delicious lunches that would easily cost $30-$40 at a restaurant. I am so grateful for this!

More like a pamphlet than a book
When I saw the comments and the photo of this book I was very excited to order it, however when I received the book I was totally shocked. Before unpacking the book I thought by the thinness of the package that there was a mistake and that I had been sent a calendar instead, on opening the package the recipe book and I use this term lightly turned out to be more like a pamphlet with very little content infact there’s nothing in there that isn’t freely available on the internet, so sorry but for me it’s certainly not worth the 22 Euros that I paid for it

Excellent Book.
I’ve used various recipes from “My Heart Beets” with Ashley Singh Thomas online with great success so was really keen to purchase this book & I’m so pleased i did.Ingredients & methods are very well laid out .Nice pictures to compare completed dishes.Good selection of recipes & suggestions.Extremely easy to use without any awkward messy methods.I’ve always used a Thermomix Machine or stove to make curries & didn’t use my InstantPot so much but since looking at the My Heart Beets blog I’ve used my InstantPot more. Now I have this book I shall be using it lots more .I’ve already made a few dishes in my InstantPot from this book & the end result has been perfect. This book is excellent for quick curries & other dishes without the hassle of cleaning lots of bits & pieces. The meals are of a very good Indian restaurant standard. They are also very similar to dishes in Kerala/Goa from good restaurants where we have been for holidays.Lamb & Chicken is always succulent & Tender.Vegetable recipes are also very good.I highly recommend this book .Two pictures: Mango Chicken Curry. Lamb Rogan Josh.Excellent results each time.
