Sisterhood, romance, and healing
When I read the first book in the Pacific Avenue series, I was dying to see what was in store for the rest of the sisters and to watch their relationships with each other grow along with their romantic prospects. It was hard to be patient waiting for this to come out, but it was so worth the wait!Brinn and Garrick are both such well-rounded and engaging characters, and it was awesome watching them both open their hearts to love. Even the theme of narcissistic abuse can’t stop Kristin Billerbeck from delivering a sweet and funny romance. Note: Despite the heavy subject, this is not at all a heavy book.As a therapist, I usually shy away from these types of stories because they’re usually completely unrealistic and they frustrate me to no end. Not this one. I could feel Brinn’s confusion and denial about her own abuse, along with her slow awakening to the truth. This is a book I will recommend to clients who have endured this kind of relationship to give them insight and hope, not to mention much-needed entertainment. If I could, I would give it more than 5 stars.

This is EYE OPENING! I had no idea that things like this happened in wealthy families!
Grab this book, sit down and wait to be seated until you race to the end to learn what happens to the main character. This book was mesmerizing and I was stunned by what I read and never knew. What an amazing story that Kristin Billerbeck has written. Wow!

Continuity errors
This book suffers from several continuity errors. I don’t want to post any spoilers, so I’ll just say that events happen, and then later on when the characters discuss these events, they change the order of them or the details of what exactly happened. And then at the end of the book, Brinn is shocked to learn that Quinn knows something despite the fact that Brinn already told her several chapters earlier. More than once I found myself flipping back in the book to make sure that I remembered correctly and it was the author who was wrong.Continuity issues aside, this book was just okay. Having never been a victim of abuse myself, I found it really hard to relate to Brinn and got frustrated with her on several occasions. The long, drawn out conversations are repetitive and confusing at times. The relationship between Brinn and Garrick was a bit strange. All in all, not the author’s best work.

Humor with Depth
I loved this story, which continues the Wentworth Sister saga. Kristin Billerbeck has upped her game with a fabulous setting in San Francisco, a loving sister relationship, and of course romance, with a hint of danger stirred into the mix. Can't wait for the next installment!
