It takes getting used to.
My 8 month old was terrified of it at first but on the 3rd day he starting babbling with it. It was actually very cute.

Don't waste your time
I intended to give this to my toddler granddaughter, but when I opened it up, installed the batteries and tried it out, I am definitely not keeping it. Every word or phrase that I spoke to it, it repeated Something but you could definitely tell that it was nothing near what I had said. Extremely extremely cheaply made and on its way back today!!
