Warranty Is A Joke
If you’re buying this for the lifetime guarantee- don’t! The company does not stand behind its product. They find any excuse not to replace a faulty unit. Very frustrating!

I'm burning I'm burning I'm burning for youuuuu
Pics show damage to surge protector and damage to my shore power cable. Purchased SSP-50XL end of June 2018, to use in conjunction with my 2018 MPG Cruiser 3100BH, on September 16th at about 1:00am the power goes out and I went outside to check on what was going on. I could smell a strong odor of burning plastic/electrical but not in the trailer, only outside. I touched the back of the SSP-50XL and could barely keep my hand on it as it was extremely hot. Flipped the main 50amp breaker at my shore power to be safe and went to work checking all the fuses and breakers in the trailer to be safe. Spent about 2 hours safety checking everything on the inside then secured my trailer an left. In the light of day and sans mosquitos pulled the SSP-50XL and realized it had melted my shore power cable pretty bad, not sure if i'll have to replace the whole thing or just put a new end on, but for sure I'm out the $120.00 for the SSP-50XL and whatever I end up paying for my shore cable.....they say lifetime warranty but we'll see. P.S. 50amp shore power installed by licensed electrician, even gave him the instructions to wire correctly for travel RV hookup and not 220, surge protector identified it as being wired correctly, all plugs and cables were secure and firmly plugged in.

Faulty Device - Dangerous! Don’t BUY!!!
We just unboxed this and plugged it in a month ago— the appropriate lights never turned on showing a good connection, and our power immediately began to have random surges, cycling up then down. We informed the resort owners and foreman who had the power company come out and leave some sort of box on our pole for two weeks without the surge protector on and there were no issues with our connection, we got a faulty device. Even though it’s a small percentage of negative feedback it’s very very important because a device that’s not reliable that runs power through it is an extremely dangerous device! DO NOT BUY

Worked for about a month, now it always shows Open Ground
It seemed to work fine for the first month or so, then on a recent overnight trip the only light that came on was the green light, indicating "Open Ground". I tried another power post and got the same results. When I got the same results at the next campground I asked a neighbor to check our post with their device and the power was fine. I tested again at home and got the same results. I tested my outlet with a multi-meter and it is wired correctly but this unit shows open ground. Telephone support is useless. I've been disconnected 3 times. I have submitted the online warranty form but I did not even get a confirmation number or email. If they send me a new unit in a timely manner I may update this review but I'm not holding my breath.

Bad out of box
Plugged in to pole, led indicated good polarity. Plugged in 50A cable, turned on the breakers, came inside my motorhome smelled burning rubber, Inverter error alarm was going off and the inverter was smoking. I thought I lost my TV but it was the power strip that it was plugged into but the power strip burnt up. Very scary. I bought it because of the good reviews, I guess I'm one of the 4%

Great Surge Protector and Warranty Honored
Product lasted 3 years. We have been through a few, not well-managed, TV parks and this Surge Protector proved itself several times. Warn us of mis-wired pedestals as well as no power and a ground fault. Finally failed- indicator lights dead, but the unit still passed power to my 5th wheel. Filed the warranty for the replacement and, within 2 hours, was honored by Progressive. Good unit and great customer support. Replacement is being shipped without charge and the bad unit trashed.

Use With Caution!!!
I used this surge protector for about a month and it burned up and took my plug with it. I had the park electrician and an rv repair person come look at it and they both said it was the surge protector. That seemed right to me as there was no sign of any arcing at the outlet or in my rig. Lucky it didn't start a fire! The lights indicated it was safe to plug in both before and after it burned up so that wasn't right either. Use at your own risk.

Highly recommended, well built, a must for RVers.
Well built, highly recommended, does its job well. A must for RV'ers.Tech support I've heard is great, and they share a lot of info on YouTube and their site. The design is well made, and modular so you can replace components if you ever have a failure. It can be a little hard getting everything to fit in the little box, but thats just part of wiring, not an issue with the design or product.I would HIGHLY recommend you know with 100% where you are putting this and make sure you don't need the remote display model. I wish I would have got that, but thankfully, I can still barely see the display on mine. I do wish they sold a kit to add it, but I don't believe they do.I really like getting the readout of current status so to speak - voltage and amp draw on both legs. Makes it easy to figure out how much power you are using should you be trying to figure out how big of a Generator you need.

Doesn't protect from high/low voltage
Purchased the SSP-XL model hoping it would cover surges as well because of its name. Short answer, no. Many people think it would (check amazon answers) but they are wrong. It only checks the pedestal / wiring but it never shuts off the power in the case of a surge. Here is the answer I received from the manufacturer: "Voltages between 132v-300v is considered Hi voltage and any voltage below 104v is low voltage the SSP DOES NOT protect from either one. The SSP only indicates that there is an issue with the pedestal or the power by a light and never shuts power off."

Protect your Trailer
Just used it on my last camping trip. Not sure if the campground has issues but now at least my investment (trailer) is save from surges. I don't want any of the many circuit boards in my trailer to blow up.For design however, the plastic cover is not bubbled enough to fit a 50 AMP plug with the Pull handle on the cord. A resign of the cover will allow it to close shut. For now I put a bag over it to keep any rain water out. That works.

For Piece Of Mind
Bought 50 & 30A . Had some trouble keeping the rv cord plugged into the receptacle so in a couple of cases I had to use duct tape to maintain a working connection. Once it was properly connected it worked well.

Does its job.
However the plastic cover will not close down against the protector frame. Our power cord, 2019 Solitude 310gk, has a loop that acts as a handle to assist in removal from the power plug at the power post. This handle doubles the depth of the head of the power cord, which does not allow the cover of the Surge Protector to close. The cover still mostly covers the connection between the head of the power cord and the Surge Protector, so moisture penetration should not be a problem. The main purpose of the SP to check for polarity and or power faults is still accomplished, which is where the value for money takes effect.Rich

Happy I Spent The Money To Protect My Investment
Got this surge protector after a neighbour in our trailer park had their electrical on their trailer catch on fire during a storm. Spending money now and being proactive. Happy with unit so far. Doing what it is supposed to. We had called around to trailer dealers and got this unit at a much more reasonable price.
