This book should be handed out with EVERY women’s diagnosis'
This is a book that I 100% feel like every woman should be handed to when they receive their diagnosis. I first read this right after I was diagnosed. And it is such a perfect copy for helping to understanding and normalizing yourself and the diagnosis you just received. It helped me to look back at my childhood and completely understand myself so much better. Realizing the signs that were so easily missed. I’m not mad. It was the late 80s and early 90s and it was easy then to focus solely on boys as the doctors culprits for fitting that model. I’m just happy that we know so much more now.As I was reading it, I felt like I was seeing my sister as well. She is of that generation and mindset that we don’t need a diagnosis for everything. And I am that type that is like. I like understanding EVERY aspect of me. And having a name for it, just gives you a way to understand it better. It doesn’t change who you were before or after. It just gives you this concept that you can now understand yourself. You’re not different. There are others out there like you, going through the same as you. To me, it’s empowering. There are some areas I didn’t match. But that’s a ME thing. And not everyone is going to fit the mold. There are always exceptions to every rule. I did wish that there was more help in finances and in cleaning. Because those are two areas I struggle THE MOST!!!! But after having to do this ADHD group with my insurance. I realize the ONLY trick towards those is to make them incentive based. There is no “trick” no app you can magically use that will make the jobs easier. Because in the end, the work ALL has to come from within YOU. So how can YOU build up that desire to get those things done? And when you do, what’s your reward?Linda has written so many amazing books over time that have really helped me in processing the mind. And she writes them in a simple enough way that I don’t feel stupid while I’m reading. Or worst, I don’t feel like I’m reading a text book. Or some non-fiction self-help book. This collaboration with Sarah Davis was a fast, easy read. And a lot of insightfulness. I really do think that much like when you get pregnant, they had you a copy about what to expect over those months. They should hand you a copy of this book for understanding your diagnosis of ADHD and what it means to you now, in the future, and what it meant as you grew up and how that effected where you are today!.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I first heard it on Audible but enjoyed it so much I bought the paperback
It was easy to follow and understand. They offer great recommendations on how to improve each aspect the discuss. I still flip through it regularly to remind myself of any topic and possibly learn something I may have missed from previous reads.

I've only read a chapter, but so far I relate with a lot that is said and I think this will be a great help to understanding myself. The book itself came in good condition.

Easy Read Loaded With Helpful Tidbits
A well organized book hitting major areas where ADHD will knock you on your butt.. and leave you there if you struggle in figuring out how to get up and adjust how to approach life. I read it in a couple settings over a few hours. Marked many papers that I continue to re-read when I fall down again. The majority of each section stands alone allowing the reader to cherry pick areas of struggle vs requiring a front to back read. This book breaks down strategies and routines into digestible bites. There’s no magic to beating this thing. But here’s a book that may help if you prefer less intensity when researching why your brain works the way it does, and how you can learn to work with it; even profiting from the ADHD thought processes superseding those of the neurotypical. The Final Words section of this book are “money” for me. They outline all my brain is that I so easily forget.“ADHD does not need to define you.”

Very informative
While I am not diagnosed ADHD, I have adult women around me who have been. From their experiences led me to this book, and I feel that I can relate to a lot of what is written and notice many of these behaviors myself. It was very well written and easy for me to keep my focus and attention.
